Basic WF

Decent parking, nice outdoor dining area out front. Just walking distance from Lake Merritt. They have a good vegan analogs section in the produce area - the deli makes good vegan sandwiches. The hot table is generously sized with good hash browns most mornings . Espresso bar is pretty good and has plant based milks.

A fraction of what it could be...

I really don’t like their food bar here. Not so healthy and everything looks and feels gross. Their sandwiches are ok but not so many options. Typical Whole Foods otherwise.

great selection, come with a list

Great location, great for post-running Lake Merritt snacks. However I highly encourage coming with a list or stronger will power as you may be tempted to buy a plethora of things and it adds up quickly! Highly recommend the vegan donuts, revive Kombucha, and their candy aisle if you have a sweet tooth! Also recommend stocking up on biodegradable straws made from corn and their beauty aisles are also extensive. Find most things that are difficult to find. I stock up here on vegan floss.

Pros: Extensive vegan options, vegan ice cream choices! , location

Cons: can be expensive

Organic food and cosmetics

Everything they sells is supposed to be certified organic so the prices are not low. But it is definetively worth to visit it. They have a huge fresh fruit and vegetables section, and sell very organic treats. Also they ready meals and salads are very helpful if you are looking for healthy and not overpriced dinning. Beyond food they sell organic cosmetics and so on.

Pros: unprocessed healthy food, cosmetic section, opening hours and accesibility

Cons: quite expensive

So-so, overpriced, but some good choices

Like any other Whole Foods, it's an overpriced and somewhat greenwashed affair, with too much shiny stuff and not enough organics and, ironically, too many processed (i.e. *not* whole) foods.

But among the plentifully-stocked aisles there awesome good things to be found if one reads labels carefully.

The best thing about this location is that there's ample free parking, which is rare in downtown Oakland.

Pros: Free parking

Cons: Sells meat, and lots of junk, too, overpriced

Easy to find something you are in the mood for

Incredible variety here for a quick snack or a full meal. The variety includes salad bar, hot food bar tat always has vegetarian options with ingredient information, soup bar, trail mix bar where you can make your own snacky treat. Of course the hot and cold drink options are just as incredible. Good place to bring you non-vegetarian friends as there are so many options for all food preferences. They even have vegan desserts. Yum!

Pros: Variety, Self service
