The real deal

Killer spot.
The owner is a great guy, super friendly and totally down with vegan knowledge. Vegan items are not marked on the menu, so you have to ask - but there's always a good selection that can be made vegan.
The food is absolutely top-notch.

Pros: Great food, Good staff, Good vibes

Indian fusion data food

Innovative fast food. Liked a lot. Place is small and a bit crowdy, but food was worth of money! (visited April 2023)

Nice Thali

The vegan Thali we had was much better than the Tofu Teriyaki. Though the homemade bread is not served with the vegan option of the Thali, so you get something like a tortilla. Staff seemed a bit overwhelmed with all the guests, it was full.

Not very vegan friendly

The naan bread is not vegan, so the naan-pizzas are not an option for vegans. What remains is mostly standard Indian cuisine. I had the Tofu Teriyaki which was good but not better than in a good Italian restaurant. At least, the menu (which was a bit hidden, it lay inside on the counter and was not brought or offered to us when we arrived) has vegan labels.

Cons: Not very vegan friendly

Great Variety of Options

This place has a lot of great fusion food that you probably haven't seen anywhere else. I had the roti 'burger'. The fact that it was referred to as a burger gave the expectation that I would be able to eat it with my hands, but that was definitely not the case as it was basically curry in a wrap, so would probably have been easier to eat if it was just curry with roti on the side. Nonetheless, it still tasted excellent as did the mango lassi and my mum was very pleased with her naan pizza.

Pros: Variety, Taste

Some good vegan choices

Small fast food place with good vegan options, with outdoor seating on the sidewalk, and indoor seating with eclectic music playing.

I liked the vegan Avocado Wrap that I had.

Pros: Some good vegan options , Reasonably priced

Okay

Been here twice - the female staff are always nice and the male staff are always unfriendly. The food is okay (the aubergine naan was very good), and the price is reasonable. It's nothing majorly special though

Pros: options

Cons: staff

Good food!

We were wondering around not knowing where to go and ended up here.. but it was a great place! It has Mexican x Indian inspired menu.. and had quite some vegan options. Though it was a bit hard to communicate with my broken German. They said that they don't have any meat on the menu.. and I didn't see any meat on the menu but they did have fish. seems like the soup (dahl) itself is always vegan and they also have chili which is vegan.. and thali is vegan except for naan bread. They said it was non-vegan but I forgot if it was milk or egg (prob milk?) in there. The soup and thali all came with naan so we had the soup with rice and thali with extra rice. It was a big portion and quite tasty! Wish they mark the menu more clearly though since they are all quite buy working behind the counter and many customers coming in so was a bit difficult to ask in details.

Pros: Tasty. big portions, affordable price, quite some vegan options

Cons: vegan option not so clearly marked, very tiny and very busy! guess they are popular

Alright

The name of the place can be misleading: it is more than just an Imbiss. It offers a fusion of Mexican and Indian food, with dishes you can rarely find in Berlin. The food is creative and different and, despite not being the most special ever, it's definitely worth a visit.

Most of the dishes are vegetarian, only a couple of them have fish. Only some of them are originally vegan, but probably the can make all of them vegan upon request.

Prices could be lower for what it's offered: around 15€ per person including drink. The portions are very big.

Pros: Different, Tasty

Cons: Could have more vegan options, Could be cheaper

Very nice place !

Visited the place 3 times during our week stay in berlin and loved it, it is a great place for lunch. It isn't vegan but the stuff is helpful with informing what is or isn't vegan and there is enough super delicious choice for vegans! they have very tasty and fresh indian thali, just ask if the curries are vegan and ask them to leave the Yogurt out we tried the thali 3 times and were never served the same curries so it is freshly made everyday! ...nice soups ...nan pizzas .. mexican quesadilla (ask to leave the cheese out) they make the bread on the spot. High quality food for a fast lunch or dinner. Nice mix crowed of local artists , tourists, young and older.

Pros: good value, excellent food

good tasting food, whatever you order

I have visited this place a couple of times and every meal I ate contained freshly tasting vegetables and other ingredients. It isn't totally vegetarian (some items have ghee, salmon and/or caviar), so pay attention when ordering something.

W for Wunderbar

If you can close your eyes to the one fish dish on the menu, I think the quality and value at W Imbuss is exceptional. It's unlike me to rave about a place with fish on the menu, this place is an exception, it's just too good on the veg side, that makes up 95% of the menu.

The soup is to die for, also the Teryaki sauce, veg and tofu stirfry. The other very good dishes are the Quesadilla and the Tofu wrap.

The staff are great and the music is wonderfully eclectic, it's a real treat to hear some of the retro sounds that these guys dish out with the yummy food.

W Imbus is about as close as you will get to hot Vegetarian food in Prenzlauer Berg, except for Lucky Leek.

All the young pseudo alternative people in Prenzlauer Berg can't seem to support one totally vegan restaurant, it is really a sad indictment on the meathead mentality of the average Berliner.

Since writing this review, I've turned Vegan, Cruelty Free, so I don't eat their anymore because of the fish, but I recommend it to any meatheads.

Pros: Great value - cheap, Excellent food, Friendly staff

Cons: Only open 7 days, Only one W in the world, Fish dish

the BEST Burrito's in Berlin!

I want all my food cooked by a Canadian with a pencil thin mustache and a hawaiian shirt! Because they cook the best burritos! Great selection of vegetarian food, great selection of chili sauces (including the hottest chili sauce in the world). You dont even realise they serve fish, i think its just for vegetarian who bring non vegetarians friends.

Pros: Vegetarian, Cheap, Great food

One saturday in August

First of all, lunch: We had the 'Green Warrior' a naan bread pizza topped with avocado, sun dried tomato, rocket and salad and a Japanese tofu teriyake which was excellent. The place was busy and functional and we thought we would probably not go back.

However, later that evening after arriving at Hans Wurst Vegan Cafe (22:15) too late for food we walked down Kastanienallee and were also turned down at Morgenrot veggie pub for food. After the dreadful thought of eating at an omnivorous place the next logical choice was Der Imbiss W and this was one of the best decisions of the holiday.

It was 23:30 and the place was buzzing, the cheery Canadian owner was working wearing his funky hat and hawaiian shirt playing funky music across the tannoy. We had an artichoke wrap and the tofu teriyake again. Both meals were astounding. The tofu teriyake was much better than the one we had earlier in the day. Washed down with two beers, this was one of the best fast food experiences I have ever had. Whole meal including drinks came to 11 Euros. Who said this place was expensive. I can guarantee it isn't.

Yes, it's a shame this place sells Tandoori fish, perhaps with enough persuasion this could perhaps be taken off the menu!

Pros: atmosphere, price, food

Cons: one fish dish, no toilets

Not a true imbiss

Sorry, but this is not a real Berlin imbiss. It is a overly trendy little restaurant that offers things for high prices. Find yourself another place to eat, and your wallet will thank you.

I say we get Robo and Raydoggy to break bread together somewhere to work it out! ;)

Now I'm totally convinced that Robo is an owner of an opposition cafe. Try for yourself, and see who you agree with. I'm pissed off that W has fish, but otherwise, this place is perfect, I think Robo is threateed by anything that doesn't fit into his McDonalds world. His big gripe is that it's trendy, big deal, so what, in fact it's quite unique, not trendy at all, it goes against all the trends. I ate there three times this week and was more than happy with the food and the music is superb, stuff you won't hear at McDonalds, unless it's played to be ironic :o). He says it's too expensive, does €6 sound expensive for a delicious, a la carte meal. Robo, what trailer park or squat are living in.
Do yourselves a favour, don't take Robo's word, try for yourself. Robo has a real thing about places that don't fit his limited idea about what a place should or shouldn't look like. I love the food, look and feel of W and especially the prices. Don't believe me, try for yourself. But if you are a redneck, Berlin, pisshead punk, living in a squat, definitely avoid W, you won't understand the nuances.
