Nothing Wrong, But Not Memorable - Edit
Firstly, the name. I am sure it has a deeper meaning, but it’s inescapably close to sounding like female reproductive organ. That’s aside, after a suspected cyber attack put paid to my first attempt to order from here, the marvellously gracious owner arranged for this meal to be delivered complimentary, something that I vowed not to let sway my thoughts of the food itself. So, with all this in mind, I have to say that I was left somewhat underwhelmed. There wasn’t anything inherently wrong with any of the dishes that I had (except for perhaps the bissap drink, not a huge fan), but there wasn’t anything particularly special about them either. Also, there seemed to be a few items missing, namely the peanut sauce for the oyster mushrooms and the yam balls in the jollof feast. Yes, the fonio with the mushrooms was great, and kelewele, which were by far and away the best thing, were delicious, but everything else was quite average; the desserts especially fell flat.

Unfortunate and unfavorable experience - Edit
I did a little research before coming to Dubai and I had an idea of restaurants I wanted to try. This was one of them. I tried ordering online but it would not work for some reason, so I called. I spoke to a woman whom I assume was the owner. she said to text her my order and she would ensure that it was prepared. I did just that; ordered the Jollof rice feast and peanut soup. I was going to order yam balls as well, but I noticed they came with the jollof feast so didn’t.
Read moreDuring my conversation with the owner, I mentioned I was in the Dubai mall and could just pick my food up as opposed to having it delivered if that’s easier. I was told that that was not possible so I left and went back to my hotel. I was told it could take up to two hours which is fine because that means it would be fresh.
Time elapsed and I received a text from a different person stating that “my boss said you will pick up your order and pay cash.” I told her that that wasn’t true and that it would need to be delivered. She then said my food was ready but they did not have a person to deliver it. I followed up with the owner and she said she told her staff that I would pick it up but she failed to communicate that change with me.
The food finally arrived in a not so fresh state after 2.5 hours of waiting. Not only did it arrive in a not so fresh state but it was missing the yam balls which I really wanted.
To conclude this, there was just an unfortunate series of miscommunication and misses that resulted in an unfavorable experience for me. The food, although lukewarm, still tasted good and I’m sure if fresh would have been fantastic.

Delish food! - Edit
We only tried the Yam balls at Expo 2020 in dubai- can confirm they were amazing, especially the dips!

Nana’s food is her personal affair of heart - Edit
Nana’s food is her personal affair of heart. She has a mission, which you can taste. With so much love, dedication and passion she has provided us (a group of 60 people!) not solely with food but with a dinner experience by inviting musicians who entertained us throughout the evening as well as with a menu which told a story. In that way she brought us closer to East-African cuisine! We will miss her food, and her warm way of being.

Hearty and delicious west African food! - Edit
Really amazing to explore Ghanaian cuisine that's all vegan! Delivery takes a bit of time. The website mentions 2 hours, but it took 1.5 hours for my delivery but I assumed this was because the food was freshly prepared😄We ordered the jollof rice and the plaintain with black eyed peas. The vegan and gluten-free chocolate cake was pretty decent too. I thoroughly enjoyed the food and am looking forward to trying the other dishes!
