Sweetest customer service, okay food - Edit
The staff were so nice! The food was pretty mediocre. My partner ordered a chicken sandwich which was not too bad, but my caprese sandwich was just really not great. It definitely has a “home cooked” feel to it, but I think they could work on their menu a little to make everything a bit tastier. I’m glad I went once to try it, but I don’t think I’d go back

Really cute place - Edit
This and the nearby Nourish Cafe are nice options in the area! We tried the chicken sandwich and the meatball sandwich! Loved the coleslaw and the Mac salad. Bread tasted homemade!

Underwhelming - Edit
It’s alright, I was expecting a more unique flavor profile and creative menu, I guess. I thought they are having a house made patty - but nope, it has the Impossible patty. Not a fan.
Read moreFriendly service. Otherwise, very basic. I had too many better vegan burgers, lol.
Seems like a knock off of Butchers Son.
They also need to add an option for sit-down cutlery and plates.
Pros: Vegan, Some outdoor seating along the sidewalk , Nice design
Cons: Impossible burger patty, not a housemade one , Wasteful packaging, no sit-down option, SF prices (not their fault)

Sad and ionic that the vegan businesses on your list are now closed. Yet you found it not just appropriate but irresistible to criticize vegans who do choose to support vegan businesses exclusively. Vegans should only patronize vegan businesses and use every opportunity to bring people who otherwise would never enter them rather than the other way around. If vegans don't support them, nobody will. It might be harder than you think to keep a vegan restaurant open when vegans are spending money at murder kitchens and think that's just fine. It's not.

Simple and Easy - Edit
Between ready-made salads and speedy service for sandwiches, it certainly is an easy stop for a quick bite. The food was good, and the place was clean and nice, but nothing terribly exciting, and I doubt I'll be going out of my way to stop by again. Still, I would recommend it if you're in the area and need something quick and simple!

Vegan Picnic - Edit
Nice to have a vegan restaurant addition to Polk Gulch. I ordered the vegan steak tips sandwich and my bf ordered the crispy chicken sandwich. Interestingly enough, I really did not like the steak tips sandwich and my bf did not like the crispy chicken sandwich, so we switched. The sandwiches come with what seems like a lot of bread, but it's very airy and squishes down to normal. The flavor of the vegan chicken sandwich was good, but seemed like something I could make on my own...and the chicken wasn't really crispy. The pasta mac that came with the sandwich was very small, they should consider making this a larger portion or eliminating it altogether, as it seems cheap to have such a small side. Overall, the cost versus value was off to me. I'll give this place another shot, but I'm not running back any time soon.

Solid veggie burger - Edit
I went recently to Vegan Picnic with friends for lunch. The Union St branch that I had been to previously is temporarily closed yet this branch at Polk St was open. We all decided to go with the VG burger that comes with a baked patty on a sesame bun with housemate special sauce, lettuce, tomato, and pickles. We all decided to add avocado.
Read moreWe also went with a side of macaroni salad that is house made deli style with vegan bacon bits. For desert we got vegan baklava.
They also have a nice array of food to take home including homemade granola in mason jars, chickpea penne pasta, and homemade vegan jerky.
All in all the food here was quite alright. Solid veggie burger. Nice macaroni salad that was a tad bit salty. The vegan baklava was especially nice.
The staff working here was quite friendly and helpful as appreciated their recommendations. One staff even let us each try a vegan meatball that was quite alright. Perhaps next visit will try a vegan meatball sub.
I will be back.
Pros: solid veggie burger, friendly staff
Cons: would like to see more variety in the menu

Relatively ok - Edit
I got the avocado smash and it was about a half an avocado in a white hamburger bun I mean that’s it wasn’t amazing or that flavorful I asked for salt, took of the top bun, and put coleslaw on top made it slightly better. Love that it’s fully plant based tho!!

Cute, Quick, Wholesome - Edit
Delicious vegan fare. It was very convenient while staying at a hotel in SF. Great for a quick yet wholesome meal, breakfast if you're in the neighbourhood and of course picnics. Currently open from 11am-3pm. Go early so you have the best choices. We went twice and they were out of the vegan ham and cheese croissant, which is what we wanted to try most! However we were very happy with the VP Sausage Breakfast Sandwich, PB&J and Vegan Baklava. Good quality and tasty! They've got a good menu and some vegan retail items too. Hope we can come back and try the vegan ham and cheese before we leave SF!

Hidden Gem - Edit
Yea the hype is real. The actual restaurant itself is a tiny hole in the wall. Everything on the menu is vegan. I had their Fish sandwich which was absolutely delicious. The texture was awesome and the sauce just put it over the top. It was like the best comfort food ever. This sandwich would be perfect to eat while laying in bed watching a movie or something. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Small portions - Edit
I wasn’t expecting a meatball sandwich or its side of macaroni salad to be so small for what I paid. The meatballs were hearty, but I started feeling tired of its rubbery texture after 1.5 meatballs. The melty cheese was not bad but had an odd aftertaste I couldn’t quite place. Not sure I’ll be returning at this rate.

Omg! Go here! Now! - Edit
I'm here for a conference so I just ordered a while bunch of grubhub from Vegan Picnic to last me the next few days. First of all the were so kind to package things in a way so they last a couple days (e.g., sauce on the side, etc). But even more important is how amazing the food is! So far I have had the burger, mac salad, and chocolate cake. All have been incredible! I also ordered a salami sandwich, egg salad sandwich, coleslaw, cheesecake, and pop tarts. If over the next couple days I'm less impressed by any of those I will update my review, but if no updates you can trust that it was all just as good as today's food!

Nothing special - Edit
I went there with high expectations after having read the reviews and had the burger. Honestly, it was not super tasty, and expensive for what you get. Everything’s pre-cooked and packaged in plastics or paper. It’s not worth it!
