Favorite vegan food in Cozumel - Edit
This place was incredible! We ate here a few times during our trip to Cozumel. Had a wide variety of options and all were incredible. It was a little difficult to find at first — it is located in a stall at the back of a food court area. Accepts credit cards. Overall, would definitely recommend!

Great little spot in Cozumel! - Edit
We went here several times because the food was amazing. Ended up trying most of the menu. Sometimes ingredients were out but the waitress was always helpful in making suggestions. My husband still raves about how well done the cauliflower was. It is inside an outdoor food court area so we did have some trouble finding it the first time we went.

Read moreI ate here 3 times over a week and tried most of the menu. Excellent food, cheap, and pretty quick service. The Quesa Brosas (spelling?) steak and cheese version were my favorite. Otherworldly good. Everything is made fresh to order.

Thank you very much for choosing us, you loved the chorizo!!, it was not missing during your visits. Regarding the tofu with peanut butter, we regret that it was not the best but we will try to improve it. The tortillas are always 5 pieces (most leave 1 or 2 and we have to throw away 😞) but we are always open to giving more if required, don't feel sorry for asking for the ones that are necessary to satisfy 😊😊❤️🌱

Amazing vegan interpretations of traditional Mexican food. By far our favorite on the island. We went there twice during our trip. Everything we tried was delicious (the seitan quesadilla was phenomenal).

Still open! They just updated their menu, and it's delicious! Fully vegan. They're still in the Ally on 10th but in a different stall straight back from the entrance. This is a great location for a group with a variation of food preferences because there are several restaurants that share 1 dining space so everyone gets what they want.

Food was phenomenal and not too far a walk from the cruise port and very affordable. A little hard to find, but very good food. Definitely bring cash but she took Remitly too if you have the app. Got the quesadilla plate a steak taco dish with beans and chorizo and her strawberry ice cream and it was delicious and tasted homemade. Bar right in the same area as well to get drinks made it an unforgettable experience. Will return for sure if we’re back in Cozumel

Just spent a week on the island and went to Vegan Barrio multiple times. It's located in a wonderful outside food cart environment. We had every mexican dish on the menu, and each one was fabulous. The service was fast, friendly, and welcoming. Be sure to stop by and fill your belly with their delicious food.

Great variety of vegan dishes - this is a food Cary amongst a few others - if you are on the street looking for it, the place has a different name but you can see the stand at the back from the road - great vibe! Takes credit cards even if it says cash only!

The stand, tucked away at the back of the food alley, can be spotted from the front entrance. (My experience) You’re met with a warm welcoming smile from their waiter. I asked for recommendations after coming in mostly blind & was not disappointed at all.
Read moreI had a plate with the chorizo, queso and mushrooms (add on). It comes with a very home feeling presentation, hot tortillas in a bowl, wrapped in a towel, and all the toppings (guac sauce, habanero, onions and cilantro) on another plate in their respective bowls. It goes without saying but this plate was amazing, i’ve had vegan tacos all over Mexico, to include Tex Mex and SoCal tacos & they blew every other spot out of the water (in my opinion) 10/10
I then had my second dish, the ¿quesobrasas? … SPECTACULAR. I could eat those literally everyday. Perfectly seasoned, not too cheesy and juicy. 10/10
I wasn’t planning on having dessert but the mini mountain of a brownie base, with a scoop of strawberry ice cream, topped with almonds and chocolate drizzle.. i had no shame scraping my plate. 10/10
overall a great experience, my best regards to the whole staff. ❤️

This place is amazing! It’s not to be missed while in Cozumel. We went two nights in a row. We had the quesa-brosas, tacos de canasta, choriqueso, and the sopes. All four dishes were very good. We enjoyed the quesa-brosas, and choriqueso the best.

Went for brunch and was extremely satisfied. We got the chilaquiles and sopes and both were amazing. I wish I could eat this everyday. It is the back food stall in a cool outdoor food court. The bar there was great and open at 11am as well. Not sure what other options there are later in the day but it was perfect for vegan Mexican food and beers for brunch.

What a wee hidden gem. At first looks this place doesn’t seem like much tucked away between other eateries but we trusted the previous HappyCow reviews and were very pleasantly surprised. We ordered a few different dishes and only photographed two because the food was so good we were so engrossed in eating that we forgot! The Sopes were a highlight for both of us. Such fun new flavours and was great being able to try out a traditional Mexican dish as a vegan. Thank you Vegan Barrio!

The most delicious vegan food!!!! Spent a day in Cozumel during our trip to Playa and vegan barrio was my favorite food our entire trip!! The Sopes were insanely delicious, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about them. Everything we ordered was so yum. The owner is 24 years old and has been vegan for 10 years! Her little brother (maybe 7yrs old) was our server and he was so polite and smart!! Would have eaten here so many times if we were staying in Cozumel. Can’t wait to go back!!’

Read moreCame here multiple times, both for breakfast/lunch and dinner and enjoyed everything I ordered. At least one of the staff we talked to is vegan which helped us feel comfortable asking about ingredients to ensure everything is fully vegan.
Breakfast menu: their Sopa Azteca is DELICIOUS! Their tofu dishes (revueltos a la mexicana y al cacahuate) taste nutritious and filling. Their chilaquiles were also nice and the portioning is generous.
Dinner menu: dinner menu consisted of more street-food like items, and some favorites are the tacos de canasta, sopes, and queso-brosas. Their faux meat flavors are spot on everything was ridiculously good and had great salsas to accompany it.
I love that this place has delicious veganized street food and flavors that a lot of people miss but refuse to take part in contributing to animal suffering.
The only awkward thing is that drinks have to be ordered from a different business (and those drinks might not be vegan) and you pay two separate bills at the end. It’s not Vegan Barrio’s fault, just the set-up of the place.
