Surprise! - Hidden Lunch Spot or more - Edit
So we were travelling between Devenport and Strahan via Burnie and had planned on self made sandwiches or salad on the way somewhere from stuff we had on board. Quite glad it was overcast and trying to rain. We touristed various towns on the way down and called in here on a chance just to look at the lake, which you can do by just walking to the right of reception following the sign. It wasn’t going to be a pleasant roadside lunch somewhere with the weather as it was. Had a bo peep at the menu on our way out from looking at the lake and there were a surprising number of options so we thought why not give it a go and the sun started to come out and the temp wasn’t that bad and they had a large garden chess set out the back where we sat, so why not indeed.
Read moreWe had a couple of burgers and a vegan taquitos. The burgers were good, patty had a bit of crunch to it, tasted nice, burger was simple but good nonetheless, chips were good. Taquitos were good, hadn’t noticed they were a snack item, tbh they could make a main out of them if they added a couple more and served in line with the vegan spring roll main dish.
They have a Veggie burger, vegan spring rolls snack or main, vegan schnitzel and vegan taquito as a snack item. There are pizzas as well, there looks like 2 vegetarian options that can be modified to suit as they do offer vegan cheese as an option and also Gluten Free base.
There are also ice creams/sorbet, they had 3 flavours Pineapple Sorbet, Vegan Coffee and Salted Lime Sorbet, we tried the coffee and the lime. The coffee was subtle to a bit lacking but the Salted Lime Sorbet was top shelf, great flavour, really good.
There is a dinner menu as well, predominantly the same but with a vegan curry of the day and a vegetarian parmigiana that can be made vegan by using vegan cheese.

Pros: Plenty of seating, nice outlook, Good location off main road for a lunch stop, Very friendly and helpful staff
Cons: Likely things deep fried in same oil as vegan ones

Hidden Oasis - Edit
Really was not expecting to find something with vegan options that far out, but Tullah Lakeside Lodge was there. They've got a vegan schnitzel and a few other vegan options on menu, and even had 5 or so vegan ice-cream options (including coffee ice-cream!!). They've done well labelling everything and staff were good about specifying vegan. The venue is genuinely nice, and it'd make a great family stop with a big lawn with views of Lake Rosebury. Glad we stopped here on a whim.
