Food was good, nothing exceptional

Went there for a christmas party from my job in December 2022, but didn’t know about the fish sauce problem. I don’t know if it still exits as everything looked so clearly labeled vegan, i just hope not..

NOT veg-friendly, BEWARE! Terrible deceptive service!

NOT vegan/vegetarian friendly!

They *do* offer tofu with most dishes, but that is as far as their understanding of vegan/vegetarian goes. The person below who wrote the positive review probably got spiked. :(

The vegan ‘menu’ is a confusing list, which I had to request three times. It says the vegan items are marked with a cross, except nothing is marked with a cross, just some things are circled, and there is a ‘tofu’ column, indicating it can be done with tofu. It was confusing, so I spoke to the manager, and he explained that the circled items (still using the word for ‘marked with a cross’ in German; very odd). I decided to play it safe and go for items that looked like they were fully vegan to start with - i.e. circled.

Okay, I thought, as I selected two uninspiring dishes.

Around 45 minutes after my arrival, a woman came to take our order, she then explained that the items I’d selected through this lengthy, confusing process, were not actually vegan due to fish sauce. But they were marked as vegan!

Repeating so nobody overlooks this:
ITEMS MARKED AS VEGAN ARE NOT VEGAN/VEGETARIAN!

I wasn’t trusting them at all after that, especially combined with the terrible service (the long wait and being ignored by staff), and so all five of us left (including the four omnis).

Side note: the waitress was far more concerned with her precious ego and shifting blame to others, including her manager, than our comfort or apologising, just mad at me for being upset. Such people should not work in service.

Such a place calling things vegan when they are not really does not deserve to be listed on Happy Cow, unless it is to warn others.

TIP:
We went a couple of doors up to Kreuzburger, an omni burger place with 5 delicious vegan burgers and I think 7 vegetarian ones, all cooked in an open (clean) kitchen with friendly service. Better to go there if you’re with obligate meat-eaters! I’ll make sure to add it...

Pros: Kreuzburger is good and not far away!

Cons: Terrible vegan ‘menu’ system, ‘Vegan’ items are not even vegetarian, Appalling service, even for Berlin!

Nice vegan options

We've been there for a quick dinner. Nice vegan options and friendly staff. The way you have to order is imaginative and makes fun as well! :)

Pros: flexible staff, good concept, open late
