Serves meat, vegan options available. Cafe with a small menu including two kinds of veg curry and different soups with local brown rice. The veggie quiche is made with soya milk. Has a big assortment of house-made muesli available and serves a range of smoothies. The vegetables are home grown. Has an upstairs 'Japanese' room for groups available and a small garden to sit outside. Located 10 min from the station next to the river. Dec 2018 reported having a separate meat menu. Open Mon 10:00am-8:00pm, Wed-Sun 10:00am-8:00pm.

Nice Owner and Nice Food - Edit
Had the veggie soup with whole grain rice and it was really a hug in a bowl! Lovely ingredients and seasoned very nice with e.g. with lemon peel. Welcoming change from classic japanese food for a reasonable price.

Overpriced and bland - Edit
The curry seems to be permanently off the menu, both soups we tried were bland. Vegetables in the soup were nice. Blueberry pie also bland.

Lovely vegan pie - Edit
Went for a blueberry vegan pie, which was great. I liked that it wasnt too sweet. It cost me 500 yen. They have quite a few vegan options on their menu. Really recommend this place

Meh - Edit
Had lunch here. Food was so-so and on the pricy side for the quality and quantity. I was more bothered by the owner/cook unkempt appearance and the long, grimy fingernails... Really not a good look and honestly kinda off-putting.

Peu accueillant, nourriture correcte - Edit
L'ambiance et le personnel est très peu accueillant. La musique était très forte avec des hits américains des années 90. L'employé présent était occupé a sa tablette électronique pour toute la durée de notre présence au restaurant, peu attentif aux clients.

Good curry - Edit
Lovely place. We went there when most other places were closed. It had a nice selection of dishes, and most were vegan.
Read moreWe had veggie curry and it was very tasty. It was full of veggies grown locally.
Not the cheapest, but it was very good.
We also had ice cream with blueberries- not vegan. But they had a few vegan desserts.

Delicious - Edit
One of my best food experiences in Takayama. The soups were delicious and some of the best vegetables I had in Japan, clearly locally grown.

Curry was ok - Edit
We ate there during a festival so the curry did not come with all the veggies like it usually does. I would say it is “ok” tasting. We had smoothies too which were also ok / subtle flavor - not too sweet which was good. I think this place would be ok for a less expensive lunch, but a bit of a let down for what we expected.

Good food - Edit
I was served by someone I assume is the owner. He was not someone I’d describe as friendly, but the food was fantastic. It was all a bit pricey, and the latte I had was not mixed (and I was not given an apparatus to mix it with), however the curry and pie I had made up for it.

Cute, mostly vegan cafe - Edit
Cute little cafe serving mostly vegan dishes and desserts. The owner is from Switzerland, and he's very friendly and chatty. I loved the curry, which came with an abundant serving of fresh homegrown veggies (which are hard to come by in Japanese restaurants!) and rice. Reasonable prices. Good location close to major sights in downtown Takayama.

Cute cafe/restaurant! - Edit
The staff here were so lovely. The vegan items on the menu were clearly marked along with the labels in the cake stand, they do vegan curry and you can order it along with a smoothy which is also vegan. All fruit and veg is from their farm.

A fantastic vegan lunch - Edit
There was a delicious vegan curry with Tomy's homegrown vegetables. The portion of vegetables was very generous too, which was a nice contrast from other restaurants in Japan.

Home grown organic veggies and vegan options - Edit
We went to Tomy Muesli after trying to get into couple other vegan places in Takayama and it was a good find. The staff understood what vegan was and there were a couple options for us. Overall, great experience. The food was amazing, all the veggies are organically home grown which is a huge bonus, as this is how we try to eat at home, and it's not easy to find when travelling. The dish we had was different from most of the Japanese food we have been having, but it was totemo oishi! We also have amazake matcha on soy milk and vegan strawberry cheesecake. So good! Would definitely recommend this place, especially if looking to support locally produced and home grown veggies! They also had soy bars and muesli balls, all vegan, so we topped up on snacks as well, hence why we spent a bit more here. Arigatou gozaimasu

We were a bit surprised about the super tasty, fresh cooked vegan curry in an “Muesli” cafe. The seasonal vegetables are home grown, and the owner speaks english. There is vegan cake for desert on the menu. Price is very reasonable and shop offers also homemade muesli and granola.

Delicious and interesting soup - Edit
Would give it 5 stars but the app doesn’t allow me to:( They have a small menu consisting of veggie curry, veggie quiche, veggie soup, smoothies and loads of muesli. I had a curry veggie soup and tasted the veggies quiche. Both were good, but I loved the soup. The vegetables were fresh and home grown - this area is known for the quality of their vegetables because of the favourable climate. The soup also had muesli and goji berries which for me was really yummy! I’d recommend you give it a try.
