Wasn’t welcoming - Edit
I came to this restaurant in the evening because on HappyCow it’s listed as having vegan options. After walking the whole city and not finding much, I was really hoping this place would be the solution.
Read moreWhen I arrived, I asked about vegan dishes. The hostess didn’t seem sure and went to check, and eventually told me there was only one possible dish. Not exactly a vegan-friendly menu, despite what the listing suggests.
Still, I said I’d stay — I was alone, and could easily sit at the bar.
But she didn’t seat me. She just said the restaurant was fully booked and that I couldn’t sit anywhere, not even wait. I understand places can be busy, but it felt strange that a solo traveler couldn’t be accommodated at all.
So for other vegan travelers:
– Don’t count on vegan options here (there was only one).
– And you must book in advance, otherwise you might not be seated even if you’re alone.
I’m sure the food might be great for others, but for plant-based visitors, the information on the listing isn’t accurate, and the experience wasn’t welcoming.

Cena gourmet speciale - Edit
Le insalate sono buonissime, così come la cialda di lenticchie e l'indivia con aceto balsamico e crema di ceci.

Hidden treasure in Matera - Edit
Very nice place with delicious food. When we looked at the menu we almost leave because all the only vegan options (labeled on the menu) were side dishes. However, the hostess offered us to veganize some of the dishes. Then they brought us three different vegan appetizers for free, which were delicious. After that, they brought puglisse bread, with the most amazing olive oil. Then the food came and everything was amazing. The only very expensive items on the menu were the glasses of wine we asked. Watch out! Otherwise it was more or less like any other restaurant but the cuisine was fairly superior. They have a couple of tables on the terrace with a magnificent view of the sassi which I guess you can get if you book in advance. They gave us free vegan sweets for dessert.

Very special place - Edit
The menu shows clearly the vegan and vegetarian options. They offered a gourmet couvert, that was super special. I ordered the fennel salad and the dress was delicious. Even the bread with olive oil had a special touch.
