Lovely place for easy vegan Food with the family. My son loves the choice and the clear indication next to each dish gives him a great independance. We live it on sundays.
Pros: Choice, Great indication of ingredient, Take out!

Vegan Tuesdays are great! - Edit
Another great Tibits location, with the same high-quality food. This one has ample seating (unlike the original location in Bern), and the atmosphere in the upstairs seating section is more relaxed. The all-vegan buffet on Tuesdays is even more of a treat than usual.
Enjoy!

Great selection of vegetarian and vegan-friendly food - Edit
Tibits offers a huge selection of vegetarian dishes, most of which are also vegan. Every Tuesday is also "Vegan Tuesday" where everything across the board - with very few, minor but labelled exceptions - is vegan.
The food is delicious and filling, the prices - while a little on the steep side - are fair.
One pitfall that should be mentioned is that some "vegetarian" products are in fact pescetarian (e.g. tuna sauce). So keep your eyes peeled and your brains sharp ;-P
Pros: HUGE selection of vegetarian dishes, Relaxed and cozy atmosphere
Cons: A bit on the expensive side, Some options are pescetarian

AppetiteForChange 26 Oct 2016 - Hi phex
Just read your comment about some dishes at tibits being pescetarian. The tuna sauce at tibits is made from seaweed, capers and pascal celery and is indeed vegan. :) The dishes at tibits are 100% vegetarian and about 80% vegan.
Best regards,
Claire

Great food, very expensive - Edit
The food was really enjoyable... Really great vegan options, which is just so welcome when on holiday, especially in France / Switzerland where everything contains dairy!! Only downside is the price.. It is very overpriced.. Expect about 25CHF for one plate (and still slightly hungry)! Although, everything in Switzerland is expensive.
Pros: vegan variety, tasty
Cons: very expensive for what you get

Really great vegan food. - Edit
Really great restaurant. I went on Tuesday, which is a vegan only day and I wasn't disappointed! There were so many options and different styles of cuisine to taste.
There were constantly chefs roaming to replenish any food that is getting low.
It's also good for those that just want to get a drink as they also offer alcoholic drinks (as well as other non-alcoholic ones).
After my dinner, I went to the bar and bought a slice of their zucchini and chocolate cake and a bottle of their homemade matcha ice tea (all ice teas are homemade).
If you find yourself in Basel, you definitely need to check Tibits out!
Pros: Large selection of food, Good quality, Choice of seating (inside or outside)
Cons: Self-service

Fantastic food and atmosphere - Edit
This restaurant was a highlight of my trip to Basel.
I went on Tuesday and it was vegan night which was perfect for me.
A huge variety of salads and warm food such as rosti, mushroom ale pie, tempeh veges, as well as dessert options.
A must try in Basel or any of their other locations.
Pros: you pay for the weight of the food you choose. thi

Unglaublich leckere Salate - Edit

Very good buffet - Edit
I found it a very good restaurant. It is a vegetarian and vegan restaurant with the vegan option marked. The buffet includes a piece of bread and the food is weighted and paid per kg. The price is the usual in Basel.

very expansive and not really funny - Edit
The food is mostly vegetarian and average. But the price is al but cheap. 42 €/kg of the buffet.
The place is well located otherwise.
Pros: location, atmosphere
Cons: average food, expansive

Good quality food - Edit
ok ok, it's not cheap, that's a fact. however this place has a lot of choice, good ingredients, recipes ranging from exotic and sweet and sour to a crisp and labels are clear and understandable. normally I love the most smaller and intimate to eat, but we were still very good.
Pros: tasty food, good quality, lots of choice
Cons: the price

Cool place - Edit
I've been there during lunch time and there was a pay-per-kilo buffet with salads, hot dishes and desserts with vegan labels - but could see that there were also some options from the counter.
Unfortunately, it was very expensive. About the taste of the food, it was really different for me, but worth the visit.
Pros: Cool ambiance, Labels vegan
Cons: Expensive, Difficult to park, Beverages and desserts apart

Great food! - Edit
We were traveling in Basel earlier in July and looking for somewhere with a vegan option for lunch. We found Tibits and decided to try it out. The food is buffet style and all very well marked as being vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, sugar-free, etc. The food was very fresh and tasted awesome! You pay by weight, so load up a plate and then get it weighed at the counter. We loved it so much that we sought out another of their pop-up restaurants when we went to Zurich at the end of our trip!

way too expensive! - Edit
This place offers you a wide range of vegan dishes (there was seitan (wheat gluten), samosas, indian curry and so on when I was there). It was really good but very very expensive when you think that's a self-service restaurant!
I still have the receipt, just to give you an idea:
0,420 kg x 42.OO CHF/kg = 17,60 CHF (around 14 euros...) and I was still hungry...!

Pros: many excellent vegan dishes, spacious
Cons: too expensive

nomadicvegan 18 Dec 2015 - Remember where you are. 17 francs is NOT expensive for a meal in Switzerland. In fact, that's about the cheapest you can hope to pay, unless you get a falafel from a kebab stand.

Great Veg/Vegan Buffet - Edit
Central location in the heart of Basel's historic district and shopping quarters.
Pros: Many Vegan Options, Cute decor, Vegan Sorbets
Cons: Pay by weight, No chips for the awesome Guacamole

Great food!! - Edit
Awesome food with a nice ambiance!
Plenty of dishes to choose from - all are completely vegetarian and most are vegan. Also caters to other dietary restrictions such as gluten free.
Buffet style, but very high quality! All dishes clearly labelled as vegan/vegetarian with ingredients. It's easy to get too much food here! Yum!

Such great food - Edit
This is a low-key, casual but classy restaurant with buffet-style dining. It caters to both vegetarians and vegans and the foods are appropriately marked as either vegetarian or vegan. The buffet offers a big variety of appetizers, salads, soups and main courses as well as something for the sweet tooth. The variety is big and the food is very fresh. The meals are paid by weight, so a fully piles plate will cost you a bit, but there is no way you can not pile up your plate with so many great choices! I would definitely recommend this restaurant also to someone who is not vegan/vegetarian as you get the chance to try out different foods that you might not try otherwise or would not want to order a whole meal.
Pros: big variety, buffet-style, good for trying out , good location
Cons: can be busy, if really hungry, can become expensive

good food - Edit
Really glad we found this place. So many vegetarian options. It got really busy around noon but there was additional seating upstairs. It was on the pricier side as well. My boyfriend and I spent almost $50 here but the food was good.
Pros: a lot of options,
Cons: expensive

Great choice, fantastic taste and nice atmosphere - Edit
There are all kinds of salads and some warm dishes as well. The dessert section is also very tempting. It doesn't matter if you are vegan, lactose intolerant, avoiding eggs, gluten intolerant ...everything is signed well.
There are some interesting tastes among the salads, I am sure some of you haven't tasted before.
I can recommend the soy desserts with chocolate taste or with cinnamon.
The only negative I can report is that it is quite expensive (as always in Switzerland) especially if you are very hungry and load up you plate (4,20 Sfr per 100g).
Pros: Taste, Choice / varieties, Nice seating accomadation
Cons: Relatively expensive

delicious healthy food, a bit pricey and everyday is about the same - Edit
Huge vegetarian buffet self-service restaurant, I tried almost everything and I must admit that every item was delicious. They also have a big varieties of juices. Negative side is that I found it a bit expensive for a vegetarian buffet self-service restaurant. I visited it a second time and the dishes at the buffet where about the same, not much variation.
Pros: delicious, healthy, many different dishes
Cons: almost the same dishes every day, a bit expensive, self service buffet

Boring - Edit
The only redeeming feature of this restaurant is that it is vegetarian in a town that does not support vegetarians. Apart from that it is difficult to find somewhere to sit and it is not very comfortable. The food is quite interesting the first time but nothing so special so it gets really boring and it is Switzerland so don't look at the price!!!!!
Pros: vegetarian
Cons: expensive, boring

Excellent - Edit
There's a big buffet consisting of mostly vegan and a few ovo-lacto options. All items are clearly marked for being vegan or containing dairy/ovo contents or allergens. Pretty much everything is organic. The staff is friendly, the drink options are very good.
I ended up eating there three times over the weekend I spent in Basel because I liked the food so much. The food seems expensive, but Basel is a very expensive place anyway. Compared to the general pricing in the city, Tibits is not expensive at all, especially regarding the quality of the food. Very highly recommended.
Pros: Excellent food, Mostly vegan options, Friendly staff

Recomended - Edit
Good quality and quantity for the price, taking into consideration that Basel is an expensive city. You could have a big meal for around 20 swiss francs. Salad, guacamole, hummus, quinoa, wild rice, pasta, indian lentils, thai vegetables, desserts, wheat bread and rice bread.
Pros: Vegan option, Wifi, Nice decoration
Cons: not cheap

Thankful to have this veg place in Basel! - Edit
We went to Basel twice and my husband will be going there again in Apr and Aug. We are grateful know that Tibits will be there.
The buffet items were clearly labeled to accommodate to the different type of vegetarians out there. From Vegan to Chinese Vegetarian, you will be able to find something (I like the onion and garlic drawings :)).
The food was good and there are varieties. They change some of the dishes day-to-day.
Pros: Accomodate different type of vegetarians, Good food, Nice place

Expensive - Edit
Very similar to Hilti in concept and execution, but more expensive. Also, the choices were fewer, though the quality and flavors were as good. Also, unlike Hilti where we asked and got tap water without being charged, here we were charged 3SF! But still, worth a visit with excellent location.
Pros: Choices, Quality
Cons: Expensive
