Large organic food and natural food store. Its other location at the Landmark Hong Kong shut down end of Feb 2013. REMOVED DUE TO POOR VEG OPTIONS MAR 2015.
As far as the selection goes, I prefer this one to the other one in Central. They got a nicer layout and more of everything, even a corner for organic/natural skincare products. That said, Elements is not a convenient location to say the least so I don't shop here as often as I would like to. If you happen to be around the area, do check it out.
I had a look around this place today. My reaction was to calmly wonder if someone had added this place to happycow as some kind of a hoax. It is a quite a temple to man's ability to slaughter.
So, how would you like your meat? There's the dedicated meat and poultry section. There's also an assortment of more speciality meats in the deli section. Need to store your choice of dead animal for a long time? No problem, there's a whole bunch of meat in the frozen section. How about do you resent that someone else has had 100% ownership of the slaughter process? Not an issue, just spin across to the fish and seafood section. There's a tank there with a selection of fish and lobster for you to play god with and make decisions of life and death as you decide which are next to meet their fate.
If places like this are really what happycow is about then I really don't know what to say. It seems odd that this place gets singled out for a listing on happycow when so many other supermarkets don't.
This is essentially HK's answer to Whole Foods in America. Big and flash, yes. And yes you can get organic veges there in the grocery section (very limited organic fruit though). Upstairs at the food hall though the food is very much meat based. There is a juice bar (they won't customise your order and most contain pre-made commercial juices so it's quite average), a small Indian corner (pretty terrible) and a middle eastern corner (ok, nothing fabulous though) and that's pretty much it - the rest is all meat. We did find some raw flax crackers near the Indian corner which was great for us at the time but wouldn't bother coming back for a meal unless really stuck.
