Guessing it wasn’t that great as you gave it three stars rather than four? It would be really helpful if your reviews included a bit more info

A great Kiwiana stop with a few vegan options - Edit
We've been here many times over the years on the way down south. While they don't have many vegan options, and they now have new owners, the stuff they do have is really nice. Hopefully they'll expand it further in the coming months/ years.
Read moreThe interior is old-school New Zealand and they have fun 'table numbers'.
I queried the vegan options, as even a chip butty wasn't an option earlier as they only had butter, and this was their reply:
Hi again Tony😄| can confirm we do have margarine so you can enjoy a chip sammie next time you're in! Our other Vegan options are the Plant-O-Rama Burger on a gluten free bun (we use Brioche buns normally, which contain milk), beans on toast, muesli with plant milk, porridge made with plant milk and all of our delicious shakes and iced drinks made with plant milk and no ice-cream or cream.
If you're vegetarian they have a halloumi burger as well.
Pros: Some vegan options, Good service, Nostalgic interior
Cons: More vegan menu options needed

Only one (we think) vegan option - Edit
We stopped by here for lunch based on the description in Happy Cow because my husband wanted brunch. Unfortunately there is no vegan brunch/breakfast option - instead, we created our own dish by ordering the toast adding on beans, mushrooms, hash brown and tomato as well as ordering the Plantorama Burger which appeared to be the only vegan option on the menu. We assumed the burger was vegan as it said it had vegan cheese, so I think we were safe ordering this. We also ordered dairy free smoothies and a coconut milk decaf latte. The toast came out with butter on it, so they brought it back into the kitchen and they toasted some more bread and brought that back out. They were all very nice about it, and mentioned later that the toast always goes out with butter on, so the miscommunication was understandable. We wish there were more options, but at least they have plenty of plant-based milks like soya, oat, coconut and almond. Menu could use some improvement by adding clear signs as to what is vegan or can be made vegan. The flavours of everything were tasty though, so all good there!

Cons: Not many vegan options
