Great food, good portion size! - Edit
We visit Malame every couple of years and have never been here as it appeared to only cater for meat eaters judging from the signage. So glad we checked Happy Cow as we can echo the previous reviews that the vegan options are extremely tasty and it was the biggest (and best) portion of Briam we have had in Crete. Well worth a visit and the raki to finish was infused with lemon which decreased its ferocity!

Amazing greek experience - Edit
Thanks to Happy Cow I found this very cute family run restaurant. We ordered dolmades, gemista, briam and vegan meatballs (owner's recipe with minced soya).

After we finished the food, the owner came with vegan ice cream and raki, both on the house.

Lovely service and good traditional food - Edit
Already at the welcome the waitress highlighted the main points of the menu, including something for vegetarians and vegans. The briam was great! We were the last customers of the evening and they gave us vegan chocolate cake for dessert on house. Such a lovely and local place in Maleme!

Little gem off the beaten track! - Edit
We were staying just down the road from this place and saw reviews for vegan food on happycow. Visited for dinner and were blown away by what we had - stuffed courgette flowers and beetroot with garlic for starters, followed by the classic stuffed pepper and tomatoes as well as their vegan version of meatballs in tomato sauce. The latter is made there and they are very proud of what they can offer vegans and vegetarians, hoping to add more options to the menu at some stage. Don't be put off by the standard menu, the staff speak very good English and know exactly what a vegan diet is - the guy worked in London for a few years - so they are more than happy to suggest what is vegan and what can be made vegan. Looking forward to going back in a few days!

The owner developed this vegan meatball which is the best we had! From the sauce to the meatball, tastes amazing!

Delicious Greek food - Edit
We had a great dinner here.
Read moreStaff and Restaurant owner were super friendly and recommended us good dishes which are vegan or made them vegan.
Restaurant owner would love to have more vegan customers so that he can put more vegan versions of traditional Greek dishes on his menu in the future. (Next to those which are already/traditionally without animal products)
As a dessert we got orange cake and raki with lemon (from his grandmother) on the house.
Everything tasted very delicious!
If you are in the area, visit this place! I can really recommend it :)
Pros: Very good service, Traditional Greek dishes , Ingredients grown by this family and regional

Home cooking for vegans/vegeatarians - Edit
This restaurant is family owned. Even though the vegetarian/vegan menu is limited we enjoyed it very much. The portions were good size and at the end we got baklava and raking for dessert as well. The owner was really friendly and said next year he is planning to extend the vegan menu to include more of Greek specialties. We keep his word for it! ☺

Best place in Maleme - Edit
Could give 5 stars just app doesn't allow it since it's not fully vegan. They have vegan options and ask what they have today, because they cook daily different things which is not on the menu. Amazing delicious food, amazing service. This is traditional Greek cuisine ran by a family, a real Taverna where locals eat, not some touristic place. Really really good!
Read morePros: Lots of vegan options
Cons: Prices are average, but portions are really big!
