Top Restaurant, best food I had in Shanghai

Bit hard to find the location using an Android phone (English apps), but I got there in the end. Located in the Sunny Walk Shopping Centre.
Food was delicious, probably the best Chinese food I've ever had. I went back three or four times. I got complimentary drinks each time, some plum/waxberry drink that was great.
Three courses was enough for each occassion.

To me, this was the best place in Shanghai, even if Duli and Lotus/Huì Yuán SùShí Fāng were great too. Felt very cheap for the quality for the food and service.

SOUP DUMPLINGS

I came to Shanghai for work and found myself struggling to get a fulfilling vegan meal. Everywhere I’ve gone with my coworkers seems to only have vegetable dishes that contain either dairy, fish sauce or meat broth... so on my evening off I took to happy cow. I’m glad I stumbled upon this gem.

I got a few dishes from the recommended section, but wandered off that and nabbed some soup dumplings. It’s been a long time since I’ve eaten soup dumplings, so I couldn’t turn them down. Each dish is semi small, so I’d say order 2-3. I had 4 and it was a bit much. Everything was pretty delicious .

For those traveling from the states from the first time… Alipay. Download it. This place doesn’t take card. Cash or App pay. However Alipay is amazing. My wonderful server was very patient and showed me how to use translation tool. Google is slow as [censored] here so Alipay is your best friend.

Absolutely delicious

Amazing restaurant with nice interior and delicious food. They have a “top 10 favourites” in the menu and so makes it easier to decide on what to have

Gourmet experience

Although these days the place is less frequented, the food remains delicious. They have recently added several new dishes to the menu.

Exceptional Michelin recommended spot

Busy, chic.

My friend brought me here, we had an amazing time. I loved the local cuisine. My personal favorites are: 三杯茄子、炝烧豆腐、糖醋藕夹、石板干煎牛肝菌、绿豆糕、以及上天的 the heavenly 桂花酒酿圆子。
I absolutely loved 三倍茄子 and 桂花酒酿圆子. Every bite of the eggplant is full of the irresistible basil aroma, and the soul touching 桂花香(osmanthus) is definitely going to put up a big smile on your face.

On the other hand, their attempts at Thai cuisine failed to amaze: tom yum soup, and mango sticky rice. The former is too sour, the later is poorly executed, it’s supposed to be a desert, but the sticky rice has no flavour, it’s simply steamed sticky rice with coconut cream.

Highly recommended for their local cuisine.

Pros: Great taste, Artsy, Great vibe

Cons: Busy, Pricy, Thai cuisine lacks originality

Abhorrently overpriced

There is no longer a buffet, only set menu. On the menu are many things you could get in a normal Chinese restaurant but triple the price e.g. A few porcini mushrooms on a plate for 138RMB. Madness. We didn't stay as Green Vege Cafe is nearby. Service was good and the restaurant looks nice but absolutely not worth the price in my opinion.

Beautiful

The restaurant interior was gorgeous😄
Staff nice and friendly
I tried 5 dishes in total:
Sliced noodles in mushroom soup 菌汤刀削面(小份
Fried buns with mushrooms 菌 皇生煎包
Stir fried mushrooms with cashew nuts and bamboo shoots 腰 果冬笋煸双菇
Crispy steak 香 脆酥排
Fresh vegetables with black pepper 黑椒鲜蔬

Everything was tasty 😋 maybe expect fried buns, they were a bit disappointing 🙈

No Lake

I've been to the original in Hangzhou (which is on the Lake) so I was excited when they opened one up in Shanghai. Lucky for me this is near the Metro station Middle Longhua road (exit 5) which is also the same for Green Vege cafe (exit 1) one of my favourites in this city, in fact they advertise each other in their restaurants. I wisely invited my Chinese speaking Canadian friend Wendy to go check out this new place. The deal from 11-16 isn't a buffet it's more that you get to pick a certain amount of dishes from a set menu and these will be delivered to your table. Thanks to Wendy who deciphered the Chinese tick sheet, we or ordered food with tea. Between us we had around 10 dishes, some cold, some hot, some sweet, some spicy but all high quality and very tasty. It's a great way to sample from the menu if you want to go for an evening meal which I'm sure we will do. The main menu has pictures with English translations.
They no longer do the lunchtime deal but this place is excellent. I can't believe it's taken me this long to return here, I went with a new vegan friend who recommended a tofu skin soup which was much nicer than it looked, I would never have ordered this so I'm glad she did. We had the dumplings which were tasty and the soup filled dumplings, dangerous (try not to burn your mouth) but interesting vegan take on a traditional Chinese dish. So impressed with the food I returned on the Sunday with 3 more people so we could try more dishes! We had the above plus the sweet & sour lotus root, vegan duck, sticky rice cake in sugar and steamed buns with mango filling which I heartily recommend if you like vegan desserts. I think I will be here more often especially as one of my two favourite waitresses from GVC is now head waitress here.

Fantastic food, great service

The menu is in English and Chinese with pictures so it's easy to order. Everything they make is excellent and highly recommend. The staff is attentive and accommodating.
If you like mushrooms, you'll love this place: many mushroom dishes to choose from.

Delicious food!

100% Vegan English menu with mainly traditional high quality dishes based on vegetable (don't expect western dishes though).
The crew is very helpful and kind, even though they don't speak English.

The food:
1. Fried rice balls filled with nuts: This one was my favorite dish! It's a little sweet, cranchy sesame on the outside and soft dough inside. Great way to open the meal.
2. Curry vegetables and quinoa: Also a very tasty dish. The curry sauce is very rich and creamy and give great taste to the vegetables and vegan "seafood" balls. Too little quinoa on the other hand.
3. Sticky rice balls red bean soup: Great surprise since I didn't know what to expect from a red bean dessert. The soup is nice, and the rice balls are very special, something I've never tasted around here. They are filled with a little black sesame that gives the bite an excellant taste, and the balls themselves are super soft and fun to chew.
They also had one dish of fried mock meat that I wanted to try but it was sold out, so they recommend me to come earlier next time.

Really great place, very tasty food and nice atmosphere, prices are not very low but still fair and worth the food (20¥-60¥ approximately).

Pros: All vegan, Delicious, Clean and nice place

Cons: A bit more expensive than non-vegan food

Very good food

A lot of the veg restaurants in the city are iffy, but this one was really good. The ambience was nice, and the food we ordered was delicious. It was somewhat slow, but when we complained they gave us a complimentary mung bean dessert (which I didn't really care for, but was still nice service). The menu has English, and lots of pictures. I will go again.
