Needs to expand Menu - Edit
Kitchen on George is definitely a great restaurant, I have been there in the past and my service was great, the food, AWESOME!
I have made the transition to vegetarianism, with the majority of my meals being vegan.
I saw the review from salaciarene and was hopeful when I called to see what they were able to do to accommodate a vegetarian option...particularly in the large plate section...unfortunately there were limitations.
After the hostess put me on hold she came back with 3 items: Salad, Fried Okra, and Fried Artichoke Hearts...which were all already on their menu, so it doesn't seem as though they are allowed the creative freedom they were when they created the pasta dish for the other reviewer.
Would be great to go out and not be limited to salad....
Pros: Great ambiance, Great food
Cons: Needs to expand vegetarian menu

Staff is knowledgable, good is amazing. The staff are from Culinard of Virginia College. I had stuffed zucchini boats and beet salad. Both were fantastic.
Pros: Great food
Cons: Loud/noisy rooms

Fresh, sustainable, YUMMY - Edit
The Kitchen on George is a great neighborhood restaurant nestled among historic homes and tall trees in the Oakleigh Garden District/Midtown, Mobile. They offer small plates and also larger plate meals. There are several vegetarian options on the menu and the chef is more than willing to create vegan meals. Their menu is seasonal so it does change from time to time. As I write this review they have plenty of salads, hummus, and a tofu curry dish but when I wasn't in the mood for tofu or salad and asked if they could prepare a vegan meal for me they said, "Sure" and whipped up a great pasta dish in the kitchen. Kitchen on George also has a full bar with good wines, outdoor seating, and fantastic service. What more can I say? Check it out! Oh, and they also support education--via the culinary institute of the college of Virginia in Mobile.
Pros: Veg-friendly, Fresh, Sustainable
Cons: Can be noisy when crowded
