Great Restaurant!

Firstly: I was invited by The Joomak to review this restaurant and their revamped Vegan Menu. I'm a person to give an honest review despite getting a free meal out of it.

I must insist, all the previous reviews should be taken with a grain of salt. Many of the incidents with customers being fed real meat, despite being a major issue for vegans and vegetarians, they have reassured me that incident has been taken very seriously by the restaurant.

ONTO THE REVIEW: I'm a picky eater. I enjoy cooking at home. I cook well. So it's rare I do go out and eat at a restaurant.

I ordered the Kimbap, the fried 'chicken', seaweed bibimbap, tteokbokki, sesame milk dessert and a Yuzu drink.

The Kimpbap: It was refreshing and a nice way to start the meal. Though a bit pricey at $98, I think it's nice to have. Most kimbaps have that meaty element, and could have used it in my opinion with a vegan meat of some sorts.

Tteokbokki: Served in a rich Korean chilli sauce, awesome and very carby... so my favourite haha.

Seaweed Bibimbap: It was literally just rice and seaweed. But wow, FLAVOUR BOMB. Could easily make this at home, but I love carbs and seaweed so you can't go wrong with this. Could of used some veggies like carrots, bean sprouts, beans, mushrooms.

Korean Fried Chicken: It was nice but it felt undercooked in the centre. Though I was reassured by the waiter this is how it's served. Personally I wouldn't get it again, but my mum enjoyed it.

The Sesame Milk Dessert with Chia Seeds: I had to fight over my mum with this. It was really really good. Definitely worth getting. Men, if you're taking a girl on a date, get her this and she's all yours

Pros: Service was great. The manager Wilson was on point, Food reasonable, Nice view at the window.

Cons: Other waiters are very slow, Use more vegan options, More variety to food e.g. TVP and Mushrooms

Worst food we ate all holiday

We were excited to eat here, especially after seeing all the images in the vegan menu. But what a disappointment. We had Pricky Pear Kimbap (sushi) to start, it was OK but lacked flavour, no sauces or soy was offered. We ordered a vegan cheese dipping dish which was all kinds of tempura battered items with a cheesy pumpkin dip. The tempura was super greasy, undercooked and some of the items were cold in the middle. My husband couldnt eat any of it. The fries were really odd, very sweet and tasted stale, like they had been re-cooked. The staff couldn’t have been less attentive, at the start of our meal the Manager called a staff huddle which she held right in front of our table despite the entire restaurant being empty. Each time we tried to order drinks/food/the bill we had to try and get staff attention, even though we were one of only 2 customers in the restaurant. Overpriced for the experience (580HKD for 1 dish, 2 sides, 2 cokes, 38HKD for a can of coke).

Pros: Lots of vegan options clearly marked , Great looking restaurant

Cons: Greasy food, lacking in taste , Staff can’t be bothered

No Concept of Veganism

I think the owner -- or whoever created the vegan menu -- obviously knows what veganism is (they even have a symbol for items that have not been cooked using the same utensils as other food! Never seen that in HK before!) but the rest of the staff who work there have no idea what veganism is.

I ordered the corn with the vegan cheese sauce (clearly labelled as "vegan" on the menu) but my friend thought to ask in Cantonese if it was vegan just to make sure. The server asked the kitchen, who apparently said no, it wasn't vegan. I got really annoyed and tried to educate the server about how they can't label items as vegan when they're not! He obviously didn't care and just walked away.

I ended up ordering another dish instead but halfway through our meal another server came over and told us the corn was indeed vegan (didn't apologise, just told us). Still didn't know if I could trust them, especially since the "kitchen" said it wasn't! They obviously need to train their staff about these things, otherwise don't advertise a "vegan" menu!!!

A rare Korean veg-friendly place

Most of Korean food can't be vegetarian friendly because basically their kimchi are with fish sauce in it and their food are always with kimchi. This is a nice Korean restaurant located in Tsim Sha Tsui. They have a full page of vegetarian menu. We tried the stir-fried rice cake, deep fried vegetarian chicken (made with tofu), ginseng soup. The rice cake is a bit too sweet. The deep fried veg chicken is not spicy and is not hot. The ginseng soup is very good. Overall not bad. The view of the restaurant is super. It's facing the victoria harbour. This place is worth going.

Pros: Nice environment
