Hop Craft - Edit
The Hop is a craft pizza spot that also doubles as a craft beer store. We ordered their Pickleback which is their most popular vegan specialty pizza. It’s a little pricey but a good pie. Nice amount of toppings and a good crust. The Pickleback includes their housemade V cheese “Udderless” which is made from cashews.
Read moreWe also grabbed a create your own with pepperoni, green peppers, mushrooms, and onions. You can request the Udderless cheese for an additional charge, but we went with their other option which is Teese cheese. In my opinion, the Teese doesn’t melt super well but I still really enjoyed it. Only issue was the topping charges were a bit high and they were sparse with it.
If you’re going to try The Hop I would suggest going on one of their special nights where you can get a free case of craft beer with the purchase of a pie.
Also to note, there is an automatic gratuity added for take away. I hadn’t noticed this on my first few visits and was always surprised how high the ticket was.
Pros: Creative Specialty Pizzas, Two V Cheese Options, Friendly Staff
Cons: Little Pricey, Light On Toppings, Auto Gratuity

I love the Pickleback - Edit
And some of their other vegan options, although they have changed over time. For example, the vegan breakfast pizza is no longer offered. They changed from UnMoo cheese at some point and began creating their own called Uderless, even though they really do not specialize in vegan offerings. Their crust is pretty good, kind of comparable to Mellow Mushroom. They also offer frozen pizza to-go, both vegan and non-vegan options, at select local grocery stores, which can be very convenient when you want restaurant quality at home. Just wish they would include the package and/or expiration date on the label.

Good food, friendly staff - Edit
Clearly labeled vegan items, build your own options, and good beer. Friendly staff and a chill atmosphere. The crust was delicious, as was the vegan cheese. Ordered the pickle back, not necessarily for me, but overall a good pie.

Super Trooper Pizza - Edit
This pizza is not originally vegan. Just ask them to substitute vegan cheese. The truffle oil set it off. I chose to add spinach. It was quite tasty!

Great find! - Edit
Didn’t know what to expect when we drove up, but once inside, found options and combinations we had never considered before. Cashew based cheese and a vegan mozzarella that my kids LOVED!

Vegan pizza available - Edit
I got the pickle back pizza. Pretty expensive almost $30. I’d never had pickles on pizza before, but wanted to give it a try. Wasn’t crazy about it lol but it’s nice to know there’s a vegan pizza option nearby! Employees were very friendly, too :)

Best vegan pizza - Edit
This place has the best, most convincing vegan pizza I’ve ever had (I’ve had a lot of vegan pizza). Make sure to get the UnMoo cheese and the soy chorizo. The waitstaff was also super friendly! The pizza isn’t the cheapest, but it’s a large quantity and super filling—100% worth it.

Delicious vegan pizza - Edit
They have some of the best vegan pizza in Richmond. They use local UnMoo vegan cheese that is perfect for pizza and they have a soyrizo crumble that’s bomb. Go here if you’re craving pizza. Plus you can buy a 6 pack and drink it there so basically happy hour prices anytime.

Would be excellent if it had more vegan protein options - Edit
The base of the food at The Hop is really good. I consider it a nice local-only alternative to The Mellow Mushroom (with a smaller but higher-quality beer selection). But all they have for protein is soy chorizo. I love that, but I want more variety.
Read morePros: beer curation, pretty good hours
Cons: lack of proteins, no large tables
