Just the best comfort food. Genuinely. Our favourite thing is to grab a game, listen to some music, sit and have a milkshake, and order a BBQ chickun quesadilla (made gluten free) to share. Life hack: get the gar-parm sauce for dipping.
Read moreWe also love the Mac fries, the burritos are awesome (some can be made gluten free), and my partner really enjoys the chickun caesar wrap! We split a side caesar as well, which is delish.
Then on the way out you gotta grab dessert… my partner loves a punkaroo and I love mini gluten free cupcakes or the brownie! So many cute pop-culture print cookies to look at too.

Worth the 30-minute bus ride from downtown, a small kitchen fire(?!) didn’t stop them from delivering on their promise of indulgent, nostalgic, vegan comfort food. Oh, how I’ve missed Beefaroni! Friendly staff, great food, and sweet treats to boot. Why wasn’t it busier on a Saturday night?

It’s been quite a while since I’ve been to The Hearty Hooligan. Since then there are new owners of the business and I was curious to see how the food and service would compare.
Read moreHowever, I’m happy to report that the food is still amazing and the service is still excellent! I had the chopped cheese sandwich, which was amazing, along their loaded pierogi fries.
The atmosphere of The Hearty Hooligan is unique, and may not be everyone’s vibe, but don’t let that discourage you. The food is always fantastic and they are always very welcoming!

The Hearty Hooligan, top 5 when I think of vegan restaurants that I've been to. I had the Mac and Cheese and the fully loaded poutine a couple of times. Amazingly consistent quality and out of this world delicious. And from scratch! Love the warm and friendly staff. I am looking forward to continued greatness with the new ownership.
