I had a pretty tasty Cuban sandwich here

I can’t remember the last time I actually had a Cuban sandwich.

This is a very small café. It mostly appears to be carry out business. There are a couple of small tables and chairs, as well as a counter with stools that you can eat at. On the day I was here, there were numerous pastelitos of different types. both sweet and savory. I had a couple of savory ones and a couple of sweet ones. They were pretty good. I wouldn’t say they were outstanding, but they were good. I got a Cuban sandwich that came with french fries. I did really enjoy the Cuban sandwich.

Eggcellent

I ordered the breakfast bagel and could not get over the egg replacement. I’ve been vegan for nearly 10 years and I’ve tried many egg alternatives, but this is the first time I can honestly say that you’d never know it wasn’t eggs. 10/10

Pros: EGGS!, Coffee , Lovely service

Delicious and Affordable!

Just what South FL was missing! We are fortunate in South FL to have many vegan options, but lets be honest, you have to pay a premium for them, which I typically don't mind too much to support a fully vegan establishment. Happy Vegan Bakers however, not only offers some delicious traditional latin bakery cuisine, it does so at traditional prices! Everything I tried was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend stopping by and trying everything!

Pros: Delicious!, Traditional Latin Bakery Cuisine Vegan!, Very Affordable!

Cons: Serves Breakfast but doesn't open until 9., First come first serve, items may sell out.

Great food, great service!!

I left a Google review, then started to read others. It was interesting that myself and another guest chose the the same word, "gem"!! Take notice it is! Outstanding food, better service!! Is there anything else?? Can't wait until I return again!!

Pros: Food, Service

Cons: None!!

Amazing and authentic!

Happy Vegan Bakers has become a staple for my family and me. These ladies have so much variety in their offerings and we still haven’t tasted anything that isn’t delicious and satisfying. This is 100% a spot that everyone would enjoy.

Pros: Delicious food, Plenty of variety , Friendly staff

YUM!!

Stopped by on our way into town after finding this spot here on Happy Cow. Excellent decision!! I had the arroz con “pollo” which comes with your choice of tostones or maduros. Since I love both, I asked for their recommendation, and ended up with tostones. The entire dish was amazing!! I found the “chicken” to be a bit on the salty side, but I tend to use little to no salt in my cooking, so my taste might be a bit skewed. For dessert, my daughter and I shared a half dozen churros. Spot on delicious! Even my daughter (non-vegan teen) was surprised at how good they were! We are debating on stopping by again on our way out to bring home a dozen churros to share with the rest of the family! The only downside, which appeared to possibly be temporary, is that the inside is closed. You order at a window, and wait outside until your name is called (only if you order from the kitchen; they had some pre-cooked options in a display case as well). There are three 2-person tables on the narrow sidewalk; luckily we were able to snag the last one!

Pros: All vegan, Good variety , Delicious!

Cons: Very limited seating

If you’re missing Cuban style breakfast, this is the place to go. Croquetas, pastellitos and empanadas!! They are all good. They have lots of Latin favorites for lunch too. Oh and the staff, super friendly. I just suggest you call ahead so you don’t have to wait. It’s so worth it!!

Cons: Call ahead so you don’t have to wait. It’s worth , It. I promise

THE BEST!!!

Omg I don’t know where to start with this place. I wish I could give it 10 stars. From the friendly customer service to the AMAZING vegan food. They have an unbelievable menu, fried traditional items from Cuba. I got the special ( can’t remember the name I just know we ate it in the parking lot). The owners were SO FRIENDLY! If I had to say 1 thing negative it would be that YOUR TO FAR LOL!! Thanks for making amazing vegan for with love and amazing authentic flavors. #Veganuary

A gal from Hialeah’s plant-based dream

This spot is right on. They are mastering the flake, munch and crunch of classic pastelitos without the use of dairy or eggs.
What I always tell friends is: Happy Vegan Bakers is truly a miami cafeteria. Most vegan spaces are absolutely TAXING! By that I mean overcharging so much; causing those who care to familiarize themselves with vegan foods to turn away because they are assuming everything is too expensive and very little food is served… on the other hand at Happy Vegan Bakers I feel as if it’s really Hispanic style. They are surely serving you with a good hand if you’re ordering from their main menu.

Their croqueta preparada is delicious, great sized and just too good. Alongside their countless pastelitos to choose from. I always love to grab a Colombian style empanada or an oven baked one, alongside their queso crema pastelito!! Never thought I’d have one of those again after cleaning my eating style…. But man… so nostalgic. So good.

Pros: ALL VEGAN, Good sizes, Affordable

Cons: Weird Hours of Operation, Closes early

Amazing is an UNDERSTATEMENT!

HVB’s literally one of the best vegan spots in South FL. We’ve tried almost everything in the menu and have our favorites of course, but everything is amazing. From the textures to the flavors. HVB converts the non-Vegans, FORSURE!

A few of my FAVES:
Chik’n sandwiches
Croqueta sandwich
BBQ “pork” loaded fries
All of the pastelitos but the Colombian, guava, “beef”, and papa rellena the most!

Oh and the Cafe Con Leche! Will make you never want to go back to your corner store bakery. Try with OAT MILK, far superior then any other alternative milk option. 😅

The only “con” That’s not really a con, are the lines. Like I wish when I would pick up my order I wouldn’t have to wait in the lines of people ordering without seeming rude. So if in some way y’all can adjust how people pick up the orders THATS about it.

Pros: Amount of food , Location, Flavor

Cons: I guess the “lines”.

Everything is delicious! 😋

My boyfriend and I split the Cuban Breakfast Completa and I'd give every item 5 stars! 🤩 the Meat Pastelito was our favorite pastry, but we also loved the Chik'n & Potato Empanada, the Potato & Spanish Seasoning Empanada, and the Apple Pastelito 😋 the staff is very kind and helpful as well 😊
The restaurant is currently takeout only, but there is plenty of room on the sidewalk to sit and enjoy your food in the shade!
Breakfast 9am-11am, lunch 11am-3pm (2pm on Sunday), closed Wednesdays. The kitchen closes an hour before closing time.

Great Hispanic Vegan Food

This place is a beautiful hidden gem! Due to COVID, you have to order outside at the window and wait for the meal to be prepared...IT IS WORTH IT. Lunch crowd shows up at noon, so be ready. The food is delicious and filling. Please check them out!!!

Pros: Everything on the menu is vegan!, Decent price, Huge selection

Best pastelitos "pastry"

I have been following Happy Vegan Bakery since they started in Kendall, I currently drive 30-40 to get these amazing pastelitos. I haven't found anything like it. Definitely recommend checking Instagram or calling for store hours and selection they sell out often.

Pros: Big selection of Latin pastelitos , Good selection of Latin food.

Cons: The wait time is sometimes 20-30 mins , Currently they don't have delivery

Place is closed when says it’s open. On the door says be back 1/2/2020

Horrible that I came 45 minutes out the way to have some food and their closed! Says will close 2pm on google and on happy cow says 4pm. Not good super disappointed!!! It’s currently 1:15pm on Sunday 1st. Remove yourself or update your door and hours!

Cons: Restaurant says closed until Jan 2 2020 , It’s Nov 1 2020 during hours it should be open , I even called and no answer. Drove 45 minutes :-(

Delicious!!!

We would have missed this place if I didn’t look up “vegan” on my map! The listing disappears when you filter to only vegan places, even though this is 100% vegan-friendly!! We cannot wait to come back here!

Pros: Authentic Cuisine, Friendly Atmosphere , Great Prices

Soooooo worth it!!!!

It was a wait because the pastries are cooked upon request, something which i guess can be resolved by calling ahead. Either way it was all sooooo very delicious that it was worth every minute and then some.
I'll be heading to their other location in Hialeah for lunch 😊

Waste of time

I tryed to go, and it turns out the place is really hard to find and also you can't just show up you need to order online before hand because they don't keep any vegan pastries at the store they say they close at 7 yet you can't order anything past 6

I’m not sure if this was the case back in 2019, but my family and I go a couple of times a week at least and they have tons of pastries with lots of variety onsite and you do not have to call in advance or order online to enjoy their food.
