Expensive rip-off

Went to the restaurant for lunch, not realising they have a limited menu. However, we stayed and ordered, my partner ordering a nice homemade soup and I opted for Cumbrian rarebit. Soup was good, rarebit was passable, but for the price charged was incredibly poor value £6.95 for one thin slice of shop-bought granary bread and a thin smattering of cheese and mustard. It would've represented bad value as a childs portion, never mind an adult. Surely a basic requirement of any cafe or restaurant is that a customer doesn't leave hungry - I had to go and buy a sandwich straight afterwards. Not wanting to just complain anonymously on here after the event, I made a point of politely letting them.know that I was shocked at what I was served, but all I was told.was that the chefs were changing shifts when I ordered, and that I should return in the evening as the portions were big - I politely told them I wouldn't be returning.

Pros: Nice location

Cons: Very poor value, Tiny portions, Expensive
