Physician's and patients' best friend to learn

If you haven't heard by now, you should know: "Let thy food be thy medicine; medicine, thy food."(Hippocrates)
Houston cardiologist Dr. Baxter Montgomery's Garden Kitchen is located inside Houston Cardiac Association and offers a diverse, healthful cuisine to enlighten and excite patients to learn to eat healthy and be inspired to create healthful dishes. Great vegan and raw vegan food.

Pros: Great food, Decent to very good prices, quality ingredients

Cons: Houston's ped/bus travel is poor.

Nutritional excellence for better health

Very good food, raw vegan, to support nutritional excellence and better health.
I highly recommend the corn salad for a starter - the only time I've had better was eating corn fresh from the cob after having just picked and shucked it myself. Follow this with the poblano, corn chowder (okay, so I love non-GMO corn), again, fresh corn, blended with fresh peppers adn well seasoned. The raw vegan chili is also good as a soup course, or could be an entree depending on the time of day and one's preferences.
The garden burger is good as a sandwich, yet I usually skip the sandwich in favor of the entrees; the kale leaf or tahini spinach wraps work for me.
Save room for dessert; the key lime pie is rawsome - call ahead because it sells out early most days. Who knew avocado could be sooo good! No key lime pie? The sorbets, mango or strawberry, will do just fine.
Garden Kitchen sometimes offers educational open houses, of Dr. Montgomery's medical practice emphasizing taking personal responsibility for improving one's health thru optimum nutrition, and feature food samples and demonstrations.

To help with Covid-19 pandemic, Garden Kitchen now offers Immunity boosting supplements, many tailored to Dr. Montgomery's specific recommendations based on his having treated numerous Covid-19 patients. Science based, reasonable priced, some under the Montgomery Heart & Wellness beyond the script private label.

Amazing Raw Vegan Food

Some of the healthiest and best raw vegan food we have had anywhere. For those who don’t know raw doesn’t necessarily mean uncooked. The food is cool at a lower temperature. We travel a lot and go to vegetable restaurants everywhere and it is is by far some of the best vegan cuisine we have had. Dr Montgomery performs miracles in people’s life and providing this service to his patients and the Houston community is amazing. Houston folks you are very lucky to have this in your backyard

Pros: Raw vegan food, Many options, Wry flavorful but if you are sensitive to spicy f

Cons: Hours are limited, Some food is really spicy, They not only have a restaurant they also sell har

Very Interesting

This restaurant is inside a health clinic. I think this concept is so AMAZING because thee climic can offer their patients easier access to healthy foods. This is the future of healthcare!!

I’m giving it a 4/5 because the wait time is long and the my Szechuan Stir Fry was not how I was expecting it to come out. It still tasted good, but the flavors or texture didn’t really remind me of a Szechuan dish. And I didn’t want to finish eating it although I wasn’t entirely full yet.

Pros: Future of Healthcare

Cons: Long waitLong wait time, Underwhelming meal

Love!

The avocado key lime pie is delicious and I love coming here for a reset. It’s inside of a health clinic, so there’s not a designated area to sit, but is nice to pick up food from!

Pros: Healthy vegan options

Hard to find, easy to love!

You have to walk into the health clinic, then through the door with the sign. It’s weird, but totally worth it. The thing they called “quiche” was broccoli with a raw cream sauce that was so good! Raw food can be strange, but this place does it well. And the soup was warm!

NOT a restaurant

Alert, this is NOT a restaurant or even a snack bar. There is NO place to sit down and eat, even outdoors. You go up and order at a window and take it with you.

No outdoor seating. Take out only. Weird setting

I dragged my non vegan sister on a quixotic drive here and we left because there wasn’t seating outdoors or elsewhere. It was inside a low SES (seemingly) cardiac clinic and we were hoping to sit and eat. I’m sure the food was good though. But it was weird.

Pros: I didn’t eat here but other’s reviews are great

Cons: No seating , Inside a cardiac clinic, Random spot off the highway

Love this place!

I have been a vegan for almost 20 years and was thrilled to find a cardiologist who promoted this ethical and healthy diet. He put me on a raw food vegan detox for 5 weeks, and my cholesterol dropped to 105! Although he offers full meal plans from his Garden Kitchen for novices, I did 95% of meal prep myself. However, I have purchased several different yummy vegan and/or raw vegan items from this little restaurant and was 100% happy with everything I've tried.

Pros: Lots of variety--hot or cold, cooked or raw dishes, Fast service

Cons: A little pricey (but worth it), Wish it opened earlier

Great hidden place

This little place is a hidden treasure. We had never tried raw vegan food and I definitely loved it! What’s more my husband, who sometimes I think is a reluctant vegan loved it so much that he is ready to go raw vegan. The food love kediri like artwork and tasted scrumptious.

Pros: Lots of choices, Very tasty and healthy

Cons: A little too well hidden. Hard to find, This food deserves a better place than dr office

A big WOW

Garden Kitchen is terrific. It’s in Dr Baxter Montgomery’s cardiologist practice. Well worth seeking out. It is truly a labor of love. The food is wonderful, flavorful and light. (Except for the deserts - which are beyond delish and well worth the indulgence. Best key lime pie I’ve ever had. Pecan pie also ranks with the best). Wish it were in Boston.

Pros: Raw Whole Foods done well, Food is light and flavorful, Delicious!!!

Cons: It not in Boston 😢

Great food in Houston

Well worth stopping here on our way to Vegas. We took a detour of Houston to eat here and food was delicious. Pricey though.

Worth the search!

Was hard to find because it is tucked away in a medical clinic. Worth the search!! Food was very good. We got the red bean soup of the day, fresh garden salad, Vietnamese spring rolls, hulk burger, beet smoothie and a bottled house made strawberry lemonade. Receipt came to 54$

Pros: Fresh Vegan/Raw foods, Food was delicious , Staff was very friendly

Cons: Very Pricy, Hard to find but worth the hunt!!

Yummy Eats

Arrived at a doctor's office and was a little taken back. But if you go through the lobby door you will find a small eating space with a menu loaded full of vegan items both cooked and raw. It was so yummy. Will return when I'm back in the area.

Delicious

I have to say that the location is unusual and I would have never found if it wasn't for Happy Cow! But now that I know this place exists I will be back when I am in Houston! There are two reasons I will return 1) my meal was delicious. I loved the Paradise burger and the corn chips! There are so many other menu items I wanted to try I will return until I try most of them. 2) I want to support a Doctor and his practice that believes in the "Natural Way" of healing the human body and spirit! Way to go Dr. Montgomery!!!!!

Healthy raw, yeah!

You come here for the food, not the decor, that's for sure. However, I was tickled that I was visiting the restaurant that was inside a health care facility, instead of the other way around. The menu is quite diverse, everything is raw and vegan, except for the daily soups which are cooked with beans. The corn chips were fabulous. The paradise burger was great and I loved how they served it with Romaine as the bun. I also tried the 5&2 noodle salad which was billed as 16 oz, but my serving looked a lot smaller than I thought I was going to get.
The desserts were very good, too. The key lime pie tasted really rich but apparently is only made with avocado and lime juice. The apple pie (not on their menu) was also very good with a huge serving. Best to decide if you want dessert early because it will take a while for them to thaw. We ended up taking the apple pie outside so that it would thaw faster. Definitely recommended for healthy vegan eats.

Pros: healthy, diverse menu

Cons: ambiance

So lucky to dine here!!

The Garden Kitchen is no where near my work or home. But today I had to attend a meeting off Loop 610 just an exit away, so you bet I made time for lunch! Took awhile for me to decide, but at the chef's recommendation, I chose the Spinach Portobello wrap, corn salad and side salad meal (8.99). Everything is prepared fresh when you order, even the salad dressing. The coconut wrap really makes this sandwich zing, since I love coconut!! The corn salad reminds me of a recipe from my favorite co-op, Rawfully Organic, where I believe Garden Kitchen gets some, if not all, of their fresh organic produce. Keep up the good and healthy work, Dr. Montgomery. Now I just wish you'd open a location in The Woodlands!!

Pros: Excellent fresh, healthy food, Almost all raw options, Friendly and helpful staff

Cons: Not the best location, Small dining area

INNOVATIVE!

I am very glad to have found The Garden Kitchen! It's cozy and pretty on the inside.

Though it isn't an array of vegan comfort food, these raw treats are delicious with interesting blue green algae concoctions for optimal health to take home with you.

If you have kiddos with you that are used to A standard kid menu type OF food, whom aren't use to vegan, or raw foods, I suggest you visit this place on your own time.

The food is a delicious acquired taste for the mature palate.

Raw Food

In the process of remodeling, but once that is done will be a nice place to sit and eat. Food was good, only wish the take-out container where bio-degradable.

Pros: healthy food, price

Cons: location
