Best in the area. - Edit
I’ve lived in Schenectady my whole life and the last thing I ever would have imagined was us getting our own vegan cafe. Not only is it a vegan cafe in an unlikely city, though, it’s honestly one of the best vegan cafes in the country, and I’ve been everywhere. Their Night Out breakfast sandwich in and of itself sets it apart from other places I’ve eaten at.
Read moreI’ve explored pretty much the entire menu at this point and nothing on it is a dud. It helps that they continue to collaborate with other local vegan vendors like Halo Foods (various meats) and Strawberry Snail (weekly doughnuts), really forging a tight community of local DIY vegan food producers.
Chelsea, the owner, is quite literally the vegan queen of Schenectady, and she knows exactly what the people want even if they haven’t thought of it yet. She really puts her heart and soul into the place and you can taste it, but her overall presence makes the cafe feel like more than just a place to buy an oat milk latte.
The space itself is small, but very cute, and there’s outdoor seating, too. No bathroom (it’s not their fault!), which everyone inevitably complains about, but you can run across the street to Proctors if you need it so bad.

Friendly vegan place for breakfast or lunch - Edit
The owner and the folks who work there are so kind and friendly, and their service goes above and beyond. The menu has a nice variety of breakfast and lunch items like sandwiches, wraps, burgers, bagels, and omelettes. (They're not open at dinnertime.) They often have delicious specials as well. They have a good selection of hot and cold drinks, including non-coffee items like Arnold Palmers and smoothies.

I’ve gotten several things off the menu now, all of which have been outstanding. But the Nutter Butter dessert was one of the best things I’ve ever had 🤤

Super Fantastic! - Edit
I had been to Square One, the previous iteration of the café, but wasn’t able to get to Schenectady until now. So glad I made it! I had a soy latte, the pastrami brekkie sandwich, and a currant scone—all scrumptious! I would get the sandwich without mustard next time, just personal preference. The scone was light and crumbly, perfect. I’m taking home a piece of nutter butter cheesecake. I’ll let you know how it is! #Veganuary

Great breakfast and lunch - Edit
Take Two Cafe breakfast and lunch options are available all day. The portions are generous enough to split (and I have a healthy appetite) with great side options and specials. My non vegan friends enjoy eating here. It has been a reliable place to eat prior to attending Proctor's matinee shows. #Veganuary

Great taste and great value - Edit
We stopped in while on a road trip and were very impressed. We ordered the Breakfast Crane and the Triple Decker Club, and both were delicious! The portions were very generous. The salsa with the breakfast crane was very tasty. The triple decker club was a great sandwich. We ordered online and the pick up was easy.

Took my non-vegan boyfriend he got the Rueben and he didn’t realize it wasn’t vegan. I had the curry chick peas on sourdough. Yum! Can’t wait to try something else. Oh and don’t skip the dessert.

Some of the best vegan food I've ever had. I don't know if the limited seating is a NY thing but if you have a party of more than two you'll have to scoot some chairs around, no biggie though.

Excellent vegan food - Edit
The place is easy to find, right across the street from Proctor's theater. We had the Crane (a cross between a burrito and panini) and the Tempeh Reuben, with sides of buffalo mac/cheese and chipotle potato salad. Everything was delicious. The owner was very friendly, and the place was very comfortable. For dessert to-go, we got a cookie-dough bar, which was amazing. Definitely recommend this place.

Got takeout from Take Two with some omnivore family members and we all loved the food. We had a Buffalo Mac Wrap, Jack Ass, and two different Cranes. Also got some desserts that were pretty good, but the sandwiches and wraps were especially delicious. Don't miss this place if you're in the area.

I’ve been vegan in the NYC area for a few years now, so I’m no stranger to good vegan restaurants. This one ranks right up there, and would be right at home (and probably a bit more expensive) in the heart of Brooklyn.
Read moreSquare One was amazing & I was sorry I only got to try it a couple times before it disappeared. So pleased that it’s back in this form! I’m gonna eat every item on the menu in the next year.
The vegan mac is the best I’ve had anywhere, and I’ve tried it all around the country. I don’t think it’s just great by vegan standards, either … send this any meat eater’s way and tell me they’re not impressed.
In short: go get lunch here ASAP!
Pros: So good, Fully vegan place in Schenectady NY (‽)
Cons: Not open during dinner hours

I drove almost 2 hours to try this place. I had the Buffalo Mac Crunchwrap was so good, as well as the potato salad and I usually hate vegan Mayo. But this [censored] was bomb! Brownie was good but too rich for me.
