Good lunch deal - Edit
Was there for dinner couple of years ago, thought it was too expensive. Went back for lunch recently. Prices reasonable, large selection, food and service good. Asian style vegan/vegetarian a little better food than loving hut chains by 1/2 star in my opinion.

Unexpected flavors - Edit
Sunflower Restaurant in Virginia. Odd flavors. The Japanese BBQ sauce tasted like peanut butter and the curry was salty. Oh well. It was my second time there and I wanted to love it, but I didn’t.

My Happy Place! - Edit
This resto is in Vienna but only about a 15-min drive from the Fairfax campus of George Mason University. I’m so happy I found this place! My fave thing to order is the Crispy Happiness made w vegan beef strips—-it’s one of their best-sellers for a reason. I just went there 2 days in a row ordering the same exact thing: Crispy Happiness, V shrimp tempura roll, and a slice of V chocolate mousse cake. Service is soo friendly (we love the manager Douglas!). The menu is 99% vegan (a couple of things have honey in the ingredients). ALL desserts are vegan (also have tiramisu, red velvet cake…). Try this place, you won’t be disappointed!!! We live 4 hours away but we’ve been there several times already haha!

Update 2nd visit- Food and service were great! Almost everything on the menu is vegan, so good! We had Miso soup, wonton appetizer, Crispy Happiness, and Bolognese with sun-dried tomato, and tiramisu and chrysanthemum tea….all really good, especially the crispy beef and tiramisu….

I had hot jasmine green tea, spring rolls, and orions Ruby. All were very good, the orions Ruby had beautiful color, the peppers were cooked perfectly, the taro was a little tough but I enjoyed the flavor. So many vegan options here .

One of the first all vegetarian restaurants in northern Virginia. Since the ownership change last year, the quality of the food has improved dramatically. If you have not been in the past few years, do yourself a favor. Table service is better and the decor doesn’t feel basic like before.

Their food is wonderfully crisp and the flavors in their sauces are wonderful. Portions are large, and their vegetables are all cooked to a great bite. The only downside is this really has to be an every once in a while treat for us since it is $22-25 per entree for takeout. My only other complaint is that I don't understand why they don't make the whole menu vegan. There are only a handful of vegetarian options, and I don't see why they couldn't be trivially veganized.

Passing through Virginia for the night and needed dinner for myself, my vegan partner and two non-vegans friends and Sunflower worked out perfectly for us. Everyone really enjoyed their food. One caveat was the veggie chicken in the Colorful Veggies Lo Mein or Rice Noodles my friend ordered- we didn't enjoy the texture and it didn't have much flavor, she just picked it out.
Read moreThe other non-vegan ordered the Eggplant Medley and really liked it, my partner ordered the Authentic Singapore Street Noodle and devoured it. We shared the Organic Spinach Wonton Soup and it turned out to be my favorite thing we ordered, I'd definitely get it again and not share it!
My main dish was the Shrimp Garden Sizzling Rice and it was fine, I didn't love the shrimp pieces (I've had this type of veggie shrimp before and I think it's better as fried shrimp) it didn't come on a 'bed of rice crust' ... probably was not the best dish to order for delivery, so that's on me!
Pros: The Organic Spinach Wonton Soup !

So glad to have sit-down service for delicious Asian vegan where they do a LOT of takeout -- how funny that they are right beside a McDonald's. We were on the road and called to pre-order so we could dine-in, and they had our food on the table when we arrived, so nice and saved us a lot of time. I was grateful to the ample parking lot and loved all the cute sunflower paintings. Super nice staff. I wish I could eat here all the time. We got miso soup, edamame, Songbird (sautéed chunks of wheat gluten, veggie-chicken, shirataki, & celery in a hot kung-pao flavored sauce with peanuts & bok choy), and a grilled vegetable salad, could not eat it all. There is so much to try on this menu. I would eat my way through the whole thing if I could.

For someone new to the plant-based diet, this place was a real find. I'm still in the "does it taste like real - fill in the blank". It tastes great and the staff is completely familiar with the menu. I took my daughter and she's now buying meat substitutes.

Staff helpful when ordering over the phone for pick up. Ordered the miso soup and a couple of entrees. A bit spicy but very good. Brown rice as an option, yay. Glad to have picked this restaurant. They had a variety to choose from.

Such a fantastic experience eating here. Just about everything is vegan on the menu. The Orion Ruby is my favorite, and my spouse loves the sushi. We make the 45 minute trip to come here about once a month. I wish I had pictures but I dive in so quickly I forget.

Look, you will most certainly find something you love here. But if I am being honest, this feels like the kind of place that would benefit from paring down its menu a little bit and really focusing on making a handful of dishes stellar. (Which is to say it might take a couple tries before you find something you LOVE.)

We've been limited to take-out for the last 2 years, but now the dining room is open again and newly remodeled. There are a few new items on the menu that are not available for online ordering (yet).
Read moreEverything is good. The General Tso is a perennial favorite. The Thai Tum Yum noodle soup is awesome if you like spicy flavors. The Tempura Sweet Potato Sushi is a delicious new menu item, and there are several more new sushi options we can't wait to try.
