Good option for take-away food

I ate there yesterday (21 Feb 2013) with my girlfriend. The place looks like a traditional Chinese store with a buffet and a shop mixed together. There's enough space to sit, but we decided to choose the take-away option. The food was not labelled and we had to ask which one is vegan. You have to speak Spanish for that, they don't speak English.
We had a box of 4 spring rolls and 4 small pasties (empanadas) and a box of mixed vegetables with 2 big steamed dumplings for 147 pesos altogether. Good food for a reasonable price, but there are not so many things to choose from.

Pros: Reasonable price, Good food, Kind attention

Cons: No English spoken, Vegan food not labelled, A bit messy (for a western taste) store

Comida chinesa

Vegetariano com muitas opções veganas. Comida saborosa, mal aquecidas no buffet, ficando fria na hora de comer. No dia em que eu fui, os talheres estavam mal lavados.

Pros: Variedade

Cons: Talheres mal limpos, Comida fria

Unsure on opening times.

We arrived at 14:00 on a Monday which is during opening times according to Google and Happy Cow, but it was closed. Not sure what the times are and I can’t contact them to check.

Hoping they see this and confirm. Will update or delete my review.

Boa opção no centro de Montevideo

Buffet com comida gostosa, com marcação indicando o que é vegano e o que é vegetariano, e um atendimento muito simpático.

Vegan labels are here!

Amazing buffet, mostly vegan. They now label things “vegan” so it’s easy to see what the options are. Pay by weight, lots of good stuff including bao buns.

Yummy, authentic veggie Chinese

I lived in Shanghai for 4 years and I have been missing Chinese food SOOOO badly. This place was great!! Very authentic, down to the back room of what's probably her family yelling at each other in Mandarin. I definitely got my fix of chinese food, although they didn't have dumplings when I went in a little bit later in the afternoon (around 14h) which I was definitely disappointed about haha. I will be back for the dumplings. Great selection of tofu dishes, many dishes with veggies, baozi and buns to your heart's content. The store itself is also nice and has a great selection of incense, tea, and dried herbs.

Pay by weight so eat what you want. The only downside is that the vegan options are not marked, but honestly most veggie chinese food is vegan, the only thing I saw in there which had eggs was the fried rice. I asked her about it but she was pretty busy and sort of just left me hanging there after pointing at only a few things lol. However I know enough about Chinese food to know that I'm pretty sure that's the only problem food. Chinese don't really use things like milk in their food, so you are safe unless you see eggs.

I will note that I overheard another customer asking about gluten free and she replied that they have nothing. While I'm not sure if I totally believe that, just be aware that almost everything has soy sauce in it. So if you are GF it's not the place for you. If you do eat gluten, and are craving a hearty Chinese lunch, definitely come!

Pros: Authentic Chinese food!, Tons of vegan options

Cons: Vegan options are not marked

Comida rica y a buen precio

Pros: Bastantes opciones veganas.

Cons: Un poquito caro de más. 1 agua de 500 cc, $ 90 !!!

Very good food at a reasonable price

The food is very good and not expensive. The only thing that bothered me is that you have to ask the owner what is vegan because there's no indication in the buffet.

Cons: You have to ask what is vegan

Lots of vegan options!

Most things are vegan. A few things have eggs. The food was really good. It looks like a store from the street. Wish I had more room in my belly

Nice little place

I almost didn't try this place after reading the previous negative review, but I'm glad I did. I don't speak any Spanish and the lady working there didn't speak English, but she was friendly enough. The food was typical of any vegetarian Chinese buffet. As others have said, it is quite oily and is certainly not the most healthy option, but sometimes I feel like eating oily food; it's not a crime.
If you have visited similar places in other countries, it may seem a little expensive... but by Montevideo standards it's quite reasonably priced. I paid 205 pesos for a modestly sized plateful.
My only negative point is that the food is not continually heated; they have a microwave there for re-heating if you want to.

Pros: Lots of options. I liked the ambience of the place

Cons: Food is not continually heated.

Expensive and unhealthy

I'm really surprised that the name of this restaurant (Vida Sana) translates in English as "healthy life." I found that to be not true.

After reading the other reviews, I would not have gone here, but it was the only place that was actually open on Sunday. I believe that every single item on the food bar had been fried. There were no raw vegetable items to make a salad; it was simply a bunch of food that appeared to be fried and/or oily.

I just took a medium sized plate (not a dinner-sized plate, mind you), put on a few items to hold me over until dinner, and they charged me 145 pesos. I've been to two other buffets like this one in Montevideo, and gotten more food, better food, for less.

If I were faced with this being the only place open on Sunday, I will go to a super market and put together a meal. I have very rarely given out a 2-cow review, but this one is warranted.

Cons: Expensive for what it is, Food fried and/or oily

Good enough

This place is awesome, although is not the great thing, It's really close to my heart; maybe because I used to go with friends and takeaway food.
Don't expect a cozy, or welcoming place, is a typical Asian store, with lot of things, you can buy prepared food or to prepare like quinoa, mijo, some spices, etc.
The vegan and vegetarian options are not identified, but the stuff (they are a family) is willing to answer your questions.
They are called "VIDA SANA", which means HEALTHY LIFE, but it is far from healthy, the food is heavy on the oil, but it is good anyway.
I recommend the spring rolls, they are my favorite, and a really good option for takeaway, specially on Sundays when Tristán Narvaja's street market gets full of people selling and buying things. Tristán Narvaja is an attraction for tourists and locals, if you're there on Sunday, don't miss it.

Pros: Location, meters from the main avenue, Delicious spring rolls, Cheap

Cons: Oilier than needed

Good vegan options to take away. Not very healthy

Asian buffet with some vegan options to take away or eat there (the atmosphere is not very cozy though).
They offer empanadas, lumpia, soja protein and some vegetables. The food is not healthy, as everything is fried, but it is a good option when you don´t have much time and need to take away.
The staff doesn´t speak much spanish (in fact, the owners are always speaking with each other in their language while you are paying them and don´t even look at you or say "thank you") and is not very friendly either.

Pros: Tasty food, Take away

Cons: Everything is fried, Staff not friendly
