Great vegan fast food in the Newcastle night - Edit
Good to have a late night option after the cinema or theatre. It’s a busy spot but there’s heaps of outdoor seating. Tasty fried ‘chicken’ pieces and hot dogs with a range of garnishes. Lovely soft drinks too.

Yummy - Edit
We had the 5 piece fried fric j’en and the BBQ ‘chiken’ kebab. Both were absolutely incredible and genuinely tasted like actual chicken. Will definitely come back here!

Fantastic hot dog - Edit
I went for lunch, even though seating was outside and it was January, they kept it pretty warm! I didn’t go at a busy time but the service was fast enough and staff were friendly. Really good junk food, don’t go if you’re trying to be healthy!!

'Fricken Awesome' - Edit
Finally had the opportunity to experience the Soul Shack and I was mightily impressed. Staff, atmosphere and food were great. We ordered the 'fricken' pieces and Louisiana bbq tempeh ribs and slaw to share. The 'fricken' was well seasoned, had a 'spot on' texture and tasted perfect, while the tempeh ribs were deliciously flavoursome, with a nice side slaw. Only criticism was the small pot of garlic mayo but that won't stop me from visiting again.

I would give one star if I could - Edit
They are not particularly friendly, as in there is no general chat or a smile, but the service is okay. Food takes a while, that is fine if it is cooked fresh that is what you should expect. I ordered the dirty donner kebab, I was so disappointed. The seitan meat was overcooked and bland (what there was of it) over half of the kebab was salad and I couldn't taste any garlic sauce. It was so dry. If it was my first time trying a vegan place or seitan I would not bother again, however luckily there is so much better. I would not return.

Best “fried Chicken” I’ve ever had - Edit
Found this place on happy cow, great looking menu, went for the 6 piece fried chicken which was a bargain at £7 with a dipping sauce. Very crunchy peppery coating and super soft and moist seitan with a great texture, I’ve had seitan chicken everywhere from London to Manchester to LA, this was honestly the best. The girl running it was super nice too. Wish I had more time in Newcastle to try the whole menu.

We liked it - Edit
Mac no cheese very tasty. Louisiana bbq tempeh ribs very nice, slaw great. We would come back to try other menu items. Nice to be able to sit for a bit with a brew dog on the picnic table.
Read moreEdited Oct 2019: mac no cheese no longer on their menu, they share their stack with Junk it Up. Asked for extra salad (not on the menu) and was soooo pleased, got a portion of salad the size of a box of fries!
Pros: Something for everyone on the menu , Can ask for something extra like salad mmm
Cons: Beware gusts of wind if sat on the picnic tables!

Came here for dinner & loved it. - Edit
I got the Naughty Dog hot dog & loved it. It came covered in BBQ sauce with jalapinos, vegan cheese & guacamole, definitely an option to have if you don't mind getting messy.

Donner was impressive - Edit
I have just converted my mam to veganism and this was her first fully vegan meal out of the house. We had Dirty Donner and the Beyond Burger. Both were cooked really well and I was so impressed with the Donner, the garlic sauce was lush. Would deffo eat there again and the atmosphere of Stack is really cool. Didn’t give 5 stars because I think the Donner could have done with a bit more ‘meat’ as it was a bit off with the ratio of pita bread. And I would have expected them to come with chips for that price.
Read morePros: 100% Vegan!, Cool Venue at Stack, Cooked really well
Cons: Meals should come with chips, Donner could do with more ‘meat’

Omg I loved it! - Edit
Came here after looking on this app as I’m not from Newcastle and was pleasantly surprised. Only con was there was a bit of a wait (but I think they were short staffed) other than that. The wrap I had was bloody delicious and as soon as I finished one I wanted another! I went for the chicken bbq wrap and it was soooo good. Will definitely be visiting again on my next trip up north.

Try and enjoy the here and now - Edit
The Stack was very busy on Champions League Final day, but upstairs near Soul Shack there were a few spare seats to enjoy some vegan fast food before heading off. The Mac n Cheese with crispy bacon bits on top was absolutely delicious. How I wish I’d gone for that. My seitan doner kebab was tasty if a little dry. Not sure if my request for chilli sauce instead of garlic was realised, but no worries. A pint of Heineken certainly helped alleviate any dryness. Good honest vegan food.

Great vegan food in center of Newcastle - Edit
We came here for a small meal after walking all morning in the city. The MacNCheese was the best I've ever had - perfect taste, perfect texture ... so good, I dream about it! The other options on the menu sound great as well, but too big for someone like who is not very used to eating 'junk food'. But if you are into kebabs, burgers .... this is the place for you. No matter what, definitely pop by to taste the mac n cheese and more!

Disappointing food but nice location - Edit
I was looking forward to trying the skewers advertised on instagram but these were no longer offered when we visited. We ordered cajun chicken kebab instead. The chicken substitute wasn’t heated through very well and the wrap was dry. The best part was the garlic sauce. It needed a lot more flavour. Even something as simple as pickled veg would brighten it up.

Delicious American style vegan food - Edit
I really like the location of this place - The Stack is so vibrant. I loved the items on the menu and I definitely want to go back to try other things. The tempeh ribs and coleslaw were so tasty. The mac and cheese bacon topping was delicious - but the sauce was quite liquidy for my liking. Otherwise - everything was great!
