Tex-Mex Restaurant - Edit
Vegetarian Menu, Staff is friendly and knows which meals are vegan or can be made vegan. Food was ok, nothing special but quit expensive.

Quite expensive for what it was - Edit
The restaurant was quite fun with lots of interesting decorations. We had a nice table by the window and it was good to see it busy on a Tuesday night, which was maybe a bit surprising given the incoming typhoon which is expected to batter this area. Maybe everyone was coming out for a big meal before battening down the hatches.
Read moreIt was good to see a full list of vegetarian options, and that they were a bit cheaper than the meat options. This isn't always the case at home but it's been refreshing to see that most vegetarian options on this trip have been cheaper than their meaty counterparts.
The chimichanga was nice, packed with cheese and beans, although it was a little small for a whole meal. I was worried that it would be very greasy but it wasn't at all. Thumbs up there!
The pizza came on a tortilla base, which maybe we should have expected given the Tex-mex flavour elsewhere on the menu, but it was still a surprise. There was a nice variety of vegetables on top though.
The total bill was 814 TWD which included a pair of beers on a buy-one-get-one-free deal. This was definitely our most expensive meal in Taiwan so far, and maybe our most expensive since Singapore.
Pros: Nice atmosphere, Buy one get one free beer deal
Cons: Expensive, Tortilla base pizza

Good food - Edit
The waitress confirmed that they know the meaning of „vegan“ very well, so we don’t have to worry about it.

Great vibe and great food - Edit
Not a bad place to get some familiar and yummy food! We stopped at Smokey Joes as we read the reviews on here and the veggie food at our hotel is awful. Pleasantly surprised.

Good food - Edit
I had a vegetarian burrito and it was very good (it does have some cheese and cream though, so if you’re vegan it’s better to ask). The downside of the place, as mentioned by others, is that it’s a little more expensive and they add a 10% service fee to the bill. Other than that, it was a nice place to have dinner at, very close to Kenting Beach.

Cons: A little pricey, 10% service charge added to the bill

Overpriced, but okay in a pinch - Edit
The place was pretty expensive, especially compared to all of the other food in Kenting. I had the chips and added guacamole, and the mushroom rice. All were very tasty and I had leftovers. Some items are not on the vegetarian menu because they contain garlic and/or onion (i.e. the guacamole, so just be mindful of that as Taiwanese vegetarians don't eat garlic, shallots, onions, and other strong flavours - this confused many people).

Great vegan options in a non-veg restaurant - Edit
It's actually not that easy to find vegan food in Kenting, so when I encountered Smokey Joe's with a separate vegetarian menu where most items can be made vegan, I was really happy. There are two locations of Smokey Joe's, and only the one at Dawan is vegan-friendly.
Read moreI ordered Mixed Mushroom Saute, Veggie Lover's Tortilla Pizza (no cheese), Spinach Spaghetti with Garlic, Mixed Mushrooms & Olive Oil, Braised Tofu with Vegetables, and Mushroom Fried Rice. The Tortilla Chips is also vegan, even though it's not listed on the vegetarian menu. Remember to confirm with the staff what you don't eat, such as cheese, butter, sour cream, etc. When I went there the staff got it right away and it was a very pleasant dining experience.
It's a bit more expensive than the street food you'd find just on the main street of Kenting (with very limited vegan options such as stinky tofu, sweet potato balls, deep-fried mushrooms, and fruits), but on a hot summer day I'd say it's totally worth it.
Pros: Great vegan options , Good vibe
Cons: Mexican dishes can't be made vegan
