Absolutely Awful

Don't listen to the reviewers that have used the euphemism "authentic" to describe the atmosphere of this place. It's not authentic, it's a total dump and smells like one inside. Take a date here if you want to get dumped. Bring your friends here if you want them to mock your poor taste afterward. All will be left scratching their heads as to how the name of the restaurant, "Food Therapy Chabuzen" could connote anything "therapeutic" about it. Perhaps there is something healing about wafting into your nasal membranes the stench of a super-heated vat of deep fry oil that doesn't seemed to have been refreshed in two weeks.

Worse yet, the food is absolutely disgusting and not edible. I am not exaggerating at all. I left my meal of "black curry" because I could not eat it while my partner could barely finish her "ramen". The majority of the appetizers consist of fried soy meat which would be alright if not for the fact they are far too oily, salty and drizzled with the pre-packaged store-bought sauces and served without any vegetable garnishing whatsoever. But then "you could just order a salad" at this "vegan" restaurant you say? Well I did. It was only 600 yen but the problem is that it was literally two forkfuls of salad for this price with what must be the lowest quality produce available in a great country that is otherwise renowned for its outstanding food quality. Other restaurants all over Tokyo are serving high quality vegetable salads that are 5-10 times the size and 10 times the quality for about double the price of this shameful disgrace of a "restaurant". You would need to spend about $50 USD ordering multiple salads to get the equivalent of one normal human sized portion of salad at Food Therapy Diner Chabuzen. That might be acceptable at a fine dining establishment but not at a low-end hole like this.

I balked when I read how other vegans call this place "healthy". Everything is so loaded with salt that you will have hypertension by the end of your meal. And just because a place is all vegan doesn't mean it is healthy. It also doesn't mean the food is good just because you are vegan and are missing the vegan food you get at home and are willing to settle for anything you can get in Tokyo. Yes, this is one of the few places that serves vegan "ramen" in Tokyo. But I put ramen in quotes because they don't even use ramen noodles, they use spaghetti noodles in their "authentic ramen".

This place is so bad the authorities should shutter it.

Pros: NONE

Cons: Overpriced, Poor quality ingredients, Too salty and oily
