they are offering a portobello burger but it’s stuffed with cheese and they can’t take it out. JFK  is zero out of 10 for vegan food.

This burger chain place had no vegan burgers listed on its menu. They do offer a vegetarian burger with cheese. A HappyCow listing for another location of Shake Shack says "a veggie burger can be made vegan by subbing gluten-free bun or lettuce wrap and omitting bbq sauce, crispy onions and cheese"--but then what are you left with? Furthermore, the staff here is overworked as it is, so good luck in getting a complicated order straight.
Read moreVegetarians might not mind this place, providing that they're not bothered by the cross-contamination, since the burgers are clearly cooked on the same grill as the meat burgers. In all, this is the type of place that I would avoid even if I were very hungry and stuck at an airport.

A lot of veggie burgers have eggs or egg whites in them, I wouldn’t trust a place like this to have a vegan veggie burger…
