Very Good Vegan Soul Food ❤️ - Edit
I met one of the owners by chance a few days ago who suggested I come see what the hype was about. I was never really into soul food to begin with, but I was thoroughly surprised by the quality of food there. It was soulful and flavorful without feeling too heavy. We had the ‘Shrimp’ Po’ Boy with a side of Mac N Cheese. Dessert was delightful too. We had the Salted Praline Chocolate Chip Cookie and the Strawberry Cheesecake and both were absolutely delicious. Give this place a try when you’re in Harlem.

Do yourself a favor and try the shrimp, tuna sandwhich, tuna sushi and mac&cheese!! Everything was absolutely delicious. Their chicken parm and PoBoy are also good, but did not stand out like the other items.

The food here is super tasty. Knowing about the popularity of the place, get there in time before you have to wait in line. Our service was good and everything was on the table not long after ordering.

best vegan brunch spot in harlem - Edit
Plenty of soy-free and raw vegan items are available. My usual brunch order is a stack of pancakes paired with a juice. My omni friend loved the (soy) riblets served with their baked mac and sweet potato soufflé. Their specials and desserts are worth trying.

Good vegan food but expensive + service needs work - Edit
This place has been on my radar so I was thinking excited to finally try it. I've eaten at numerous vegan restaurants around the world so I am fortunate to have a depth of experience to back up my food tastes😉
Read moreWhile this was definitely solid vegan food, there were a number of factors that notched it down to a 3/5 stars overall.
First, the food: again, very tasty and unique menu items not found elsewhere. However pretty much all the mock meats were just soy - not very unique and certainly not worth the prices.
There was a little something off with every item that stopped the food from being mind blowing. It tasted like good, homemade food, but not the chef level quality that I expect spending $20/entree.
-bbq riblets were tasty but were basically lukewarm. Also only given maybe 6-8 riblets (small portion)
-chopped cheese had barely any cheese to speak of. Otherwise the meat and bread were great on the sandwich
-"steak" was more like a burger patty (tasted good tho)
-no handcut fries available anymore (listed on menu), instead they offered parsley mashed potatoes. When they came, they were potato chunks. Definitely not mashed.
-mac and cheese were delicious though!
-baked cheesecake and cupcakes were amazing - definitely the highlight
Staff were nice but there were some weird things:
-drinks were very slow to arrive and came as we were getting our food. Part of the reason for getting drinks is to enjoy them while waiting for the meal!
-got a drink we didn't order (we had discussed it but we very clearly ended up saying no-the server clearly wasn't listening)
-we were given the check with our desserts and asked to leave as soon as we finished our dessert because they had a reservation coming. this left a bad taste especially because we ordered another drink and that was brought during dessert so we didn't even have time to finish it. We also had only been there about 1 hour and 10 minutes, which I feel like is not overstaying our welcome, plus our bill came to over $100 so it wasn't like we hadn't paid for our stay. They should have at least let us know when we sat down or when we ordered dessert that they had a reservation coming at X time. I've been to plenty of restaurants that do that and that's no problem. Being kicked out while you're finishing a drink is not the way to entice people back.
Normally I'm not one to complain about service at all, but all of these things added up to just feel a bit weird. It's great that Harlem has a solid vegan restaurant with some yummy vegan food. But overall it wasn't an experience that has me wanting more, nor would I really recommend for people to come out of their way to come here.
Pros: Solid vegan food, Nice atmosphere
Cons: Weird service, Expensive for quality, Small portions

Good Food Poor Ventilation - Edit
The service is super friendly at this full vegan restaurant. Although the wait could be long for a table, and the menu is somewhat limited, it does mean the food comes quick. The food is pretty good and filling, however the lack of ventilation was a big off put for me personally. It was very hot as we entered, and with the kitchen not completely separate from the dining area, I immediately noticed we absolutely reeked of kitchen grease on our clothes and hair upon leaving. This place would be great for delivery I imagine.

Good experience but long waiting time - Edit
This is a very nice spot in Harlem, NYC. We came on the weekend, but the line outside was not so long. After we were seated, it took them a while to take our orders and then also to serve the food. The appetizer came after 20 minutes, and the entrees were served 10-12 minutes after.

Not the regular options that you see in other places - the food was special and tasted really good.

Kept me waiting for expensive food - Edit
The food here is really tasty! I ordered some food to go and the woman at the counter who took my order over the phone lost the ticket and they left me standing their while they lolly gagged so long I almost missed my Lyft. It should have been an in and out pick-up: sign, grab, go. The cupcakes are super expensive and not that spectacular for the money. I'd pass on those. The burger and mac I had were quite good. I'd go back to dine in and experience the ambiance because anyone can have an off day, but for all the money they're charging, it won't be soon.

My favorite restaurant - Edit
I love this place. The chicken nuggets and accompanying sauces are the best I’ve ever had. I’ve come here with several non-vegans who loved them too. The burdock root crawfish is my absolute favorite dish on any menu anywhere. I get it with the Mac and cheese and collard greens as sides—amazing. The staff are great too. Can’t wait to go back!!

Good food - Edit
This restaurant has really good and realistic tasting vegan food. So if you like the taste of animal products but don't want to support the suffering behind that taste, this is the place for you. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is nice. The only thing I would criticise is, that the main dishes (entrees) cost a lot more than the sandwiches, but are of a very similar quantity, I would even say that the sandwiches are bigger in size than the entrees. My friend ordered a sandwich and I honestly preferred her dish over my 'steak', but I liked my food dish too!😄

Incredible - Edit
It's beyond belief that southern comfort food could be this good and still be vegan.
Read moreThe ambience is very welcoming and peaceful. The service was excellent and the food was superb.
I had the pepper steak with two sides, mac & cheese and the sweet potato souffle, creamy and sweet - it would also be an excellent dessert.
My friend had the lemon crusted fish steak with collard greens and the soufflé. The 'fish' was similar to a swordfish or mahi mahi filet with an authentic 'skin' .
We ordered the sweet potato pancakes to take home, but they looked so good we nibbled on one before leaving. It came with maple syrup and an analog of whipped sweet butter. The pancakes ere huge and there was enough for two hungry person's breakfast.
A vegan for over 25 years, I thought I'd tried almost everything vegan, but Seasoned Vegan was an exceptional treat and well worth the 5,000 mile flight to get there.

Not worth the money - Edit
Seasoned Vegan is overpriced for the amount of food that you get. When the servers bring out your plate, it doesn’t look appetizing because of the lack of food presentation. It honestly looks sloppy. I’m not going to pay over $70 dollars to get sloppy food that looks like it’s made in big batches. No thank you. Some of the food is tasty, but I can make it much better at home. The food lacks quality. I will spend my money elsewhere. It’s a shame because I truly wanted to support this business. They must do better.

Sadly... not worth it! - Edit
I was expecting great flavors and quality for the price but ended really disappointed. The place is tacky and old. We went on Sunday so my girlfriend had the brunch option Fried chicken with pancakes. The chicken was OK but terrible pancakes and the “syrup” was just water with sugar. My food was tasteless. The staff was rude and don’t even ask for the password for the Wi Fi because “is not for guests”. First time we went to a restaurant where we can’t use the Wi Fi. You wont get even a smile, just overpriced flat food. I don’t recommend this place.

Too expensive despite the good atmosphere - Edit
I was excited to come eat at Seasoned Vegan but I was a bit disappointed by the food considering the high prices. I took a beer, a starter, a main dish and ice cream for dessert and had for more than 50 dollars. The food was good but not fine, I can do it at home. I tried the stuffed avocado, the mac n'cheese with chicken and rice and the chocolate ice cream. Very simple dishes at the end with no thrilling flavors even if portions were fair. It's a pity because the place is cool and has good vibes, plenty of people, friendly staff. Won't probably come back again and will spend my 50 bucks elsewhere.

HAPPY TO SEE A VEGAN OPTIONS IN HARLEM! - Edit
ATMOSPHERE: I was happy to see the Seasoned Vegan was bustling when we arrived for dinner! It's a really tight, nice but very casual dining room so be prepared to eat in close proximity to others and possibly wait for a table if you are dining during peak hours.
Read moreFOOD: The food was good, I really enjoyed the mac and cheese and sweet potato souffle. I also ordered the shrimp po'boy and thought it was good but not amazing.
PRICE: Menu items were priced anywhere from $15 -$25 for the price portions could have been a bit larger IMO.
OVERALL: I think Seasoned Vegan is a solid option if you are in the area. If you enjoy Cajun food and soul food you might find some menu items that you love here. While I don't think this is the best vegan food in Manhattan it is good and worth a stop!

Skip this place, there are so many great choices in NYC! - Edit
Had some really high hopes for this place with all the great reviews and left so disappointed. We’re New Yorkers and have eaten at pretty much every vegan restaurant in the city. Food tasted ok-ish, but way too expensive for the quality and the amount they serve. Staff didn’t seem to care neither about the place, nor us, nor the food they served. I asked about proteins and the answers were “chicken, fish”- “yes, but what is it made of and seasoned with?”- “it’s made to taste like chicken and fish”. Mostly not-so-healthy options on the menu and, unfortunately, we definitely won’t be recommending this place to others. There are so many truly great vegan options in the city, spend your money there instead.
