Never again. Worst experience. I went because of the good reviews i read. My experience was not good. The guy who took my order had no clue what vegan meant, i waited 30 minutes for my food, (he said 10), he did not bring food to my table(although he said he would and gave me a number),. When i went to ask if my food was ready (after 30 minutes) he gave me a condescending smile and said “oh i am sorry”. Sandwich was just sitting there getting cold. food was not that good. I was not impressed by the vegan grilled sandwich- too many ingredients and no taste. Almost like tossing together all the vegan ingredients they knew (avocado, cheese and hummus) to result in a mess of a sandwich. I do not recommend this place. There are other places around who have way better options.

Read moreThe whole place was not what I expected: had the energy of somewhere I would go a lot at home. Fun, low key, and friendly.
I asked a few times what vegan cheese they used and the bartender, though totally friendly, said he didn’t know and acted like it wasn’t possible to find out, lol, even though there was no one else in line.
I think using tempeh shows a surprising amount of imagination and is genuinely a better choice than tofu. The next step up would probably be to slice it a little thinner and marinate it a bit or make it crispier. Still, I would happily eat this sammy again.

Quirky fun eclectic place that combines grilled cheese, beer and arcade games and somehow it comes together in perfect harmony. I got the tempeh ruben grilled cheese vand substituted with vegan cheese and the only vegan bread, sourdough. The bread is cut thick like Texas toast. Make sure you ask for the vegan sarbez sauce too. It was dreamy.

Amazing vegan grilled cheese! - Edit
I could not have been happier with my vegan grilled cheese sandwich! It was really impressive, especially for a restaurant that doesn’t primarily cater to veg customers. They also served it with a bag of chips! The environment is super fun, there’s an arcade and claw machine and they serve a variety of beer if you have interest in that.

Vegan Rueben-chefs kiss! - Edit
I’ve been wanting to try a vegan Rueben for a long time and I finally got to here at Sarbez! It was just what I was hoping for! My husband got the grilled veggie sandwich and we both made sure we had vegan cheese. You can also build your own vegan grilled cheese. If we had another day on our trip I’d go back to do that! Such a tasty place!

I honestly would eat here multiple times a week if I lived in st aug. it’s good. It’s quirky easily customizable. My Omni partner liked it and they’re extra picky. Over all great experience.

Loved the build your own option and they even have a vegan version of their signature sauce. It was the best grilled cheese ever. Gooey and delicious! Well priced too. Cool ambiance and I bet it’s even cooler at night.

Niche fare that includes the vegans - Edit
The venue is very "dive bar" with nostalgic decor. The "build your own" option is great for experimenting with flavors, or they have a long list of tried and true combos. All sammiches can be veganized with tempeh and vegan cheese. I was accidentally served the gluten free bread and it was surprisingly good! Not like the cardboard cracker type break usually associated with the gluten free option.

Fun place for family - Edit
My husband had the Reuben with vegan cheese and I had their vegan, GF sandwich. Both were delicious. My son had a plain vegan grilled cheese. This place is a lot of fun. I highly enjoyed the ambiance and nostalgic arcade games. Highly recommend.

my boyfriend went in to order so I didn’t get a visual of the inside but my vegan grilled cheese was the best i’ve ever had. probably would have take a photo for you guys but it smelled so good I had to dig in right away! I got the make your own with sourdough, vegan cheese, vegan sarbez sauce, and tomato. highly recommend.

So glad we found this place! Sandwiches are large and come with chips and a pickle. They have a vegan grilled cheese on the menu but you can also build your own with sourdough bread, vegan cheese, a vegan sauce and lots of choices for additional toppings. Cute decor and even has a little arcade.
