Indoor and outdoor seating, takeaway and delivery. Pub with all-vegan food menu and several beers on tap, including local and Trappist. The fried ‘chicken’ (oyster mushrooms) is nice and crispy - I had the “natural” rather than the spicy. Good Caesar salad also, topped with ‘chicken’ strips and ‘bacon.’ I ordered a beer (expensive) to drink on the outdoor patio while waiting for my takeaway order, and the food was prepared very promptly, well before I finished my small-sized beer.

Went there twice. First time I didn't really like the vibe there (feeling like going to a club but in the middle of the afternoon) but I actually really enjoyed it the second time going there. Just not the constant smoking, I moved around a lot even when sitting indoors as the smoke also came from out- to indoors as the whole restaurant front is open. I understand that it's a club/bar vibe there, still don't want it though.

I only got a takeaway bowl as my train was delayed and this wasn't too far from the station, but it seemed like a nice place! I got the Sticky Hasselback Steak Bowl. It was nice, not the best rice bowl I've had, and a little expensive for what it was. Service was friendly, I got some free water whilst waiting for my order. The rest of the menu looked pretty good, would probably come back again to try other dishes!

Absolutely delicious food and such great choices. We had the vegan kebab bowl, crème brulé and waffles. We were cutting it a bit close timewise and asked if the dishes could be brought at once and the staff were great, so friendly and he had a lovely experience. It was a sunny day so we sat outside and it was a good atmosphere.

Read moreGot the oyster mushrooms fried 'chicken', the mixed starter plate (the bitterballen were awesome) and husband got a gyro pizza thing that ended up more a wrap sort of thing. I got the creme brulee to finish which was lovely but not as good as a creme brulee I'd had in Glasgow (at Mono) just weeks before to be able to compare. Service was lovely and the vibe/music etc was good!

Didnt have to wait long.
Everything was very nice and tasty! Large portions and very reasonably priced. Fries were very salty though.
Friendly but a bit reserved service.
Entrance is accessible and accessible toilet on ground floor. Yeah! Other toilets are upstairs. Clean. But dryer didnt work.
Combination of regular and high bar chairs/tables (very hard sitting), and a bench at the back area. I think the sofas at the entrance are chesterfields and animal skin, so that's a bummer for a vegan restaurant.
Love the inclusivity messages at the entrance and toilets (note: pls also include ableism - I know it says 'discrimination of any form' but it's very conspicuous that ableism is most often not explicitly mentioned ... ).

The food was really tasty and the portions were great! The menu had a lot to offer and i was sad i ate too much to try the waffels. Will definitely go back to try more when im in Rotterdam again.

Shared a few dishes with my friends: The Fantucky fried Chicken, the Butter Chicken, the loaded fries and the Korean Sandwich. Although we only ordered chicken dishes, all meals had a really strong and distinct taste. They have all different kinds of food here including sandwiches, burgers, fried chicken, salads, ribs, stake, kebab and much more. All these options made it difficult to decide. Fortunately me and my friends ordered and shared our food💗

The friendly chef is a true artist when it comes to serving dishes normally prepared with meat completely vegan. Even the most die-hard meat eaters had to admit that the meals and snacks from Backstage Vegan Kitchen are just as delicious as the regular versions. Often even better.

I probably could've chosen a dish more to my taste - I had the Indonesische Rendang, and 17,50€ is just a rip off for that. The curry itself is tasty, but pretty much everything else on the plate has no taste and the portion is tiny. Wasted potential tbh!
Read moreAnd to the waffle - when I ordered it, the kitchen was about to close, so they brought it together with the main course, which made the whipped cream melt completely. I also ordered with extra fruit, which they forgot, so they returned it and it came back with 7 blueberries and 1/2 strawberry, that costed 2€ extra!!!! What???? And it wasn't even a good waffle. Definitely not fresh, cream wasn't sweet and the fruit and chocolate were so sparely used you couldn't taste them at all. Very sad. The fries of my company were the best part. At least ketchup and water was free.

It was a while ago when we visited, in fall last year, but I still needed to give them 5 stars because the food was so delicious! We had some tasty fried appetizers, the tournedos (very nice texture) and the seasonal plate of veggies (only vegetables but prepared really well). The menu might have changed by now but I would definitely recommend this place. Service was very friendly too!
