Fabulous food and cafe. Slight let down on the afternoon service. - Edit
Great menu, kitchen and cafe, the salad bowls and coffee were amazing. I was working in the area and my schedule meant we could only get there in the last hour of service both days. Fair enough, this was brought to our attention and we had 30 minutes left to dine in which was not a problem.
Read moreHowever, the staff member serving us stood over the table waiting for the order as soon as we sat down, constantly reminded us and other diners about the time then reappeared literally waiting over the table for the last mouthful to remove our plates which was just plain rude and annoying. You want to close, I get it and we would have been out on time anyway without having an overly dramatic matron treating us like naughty children.
Pros: Food and drink menu was fabulous.
Cons: Afternoon service as described.

Our favorite restaurant in Scotland - Edit
We loved everything: the staff, the food and the decor. We had a really nice chat (about Scottish/Québec independence movements) with one of the owners and she also gave us explanations on the medieval well found under the café. My daughter loved the kids menu with the activity (to find different animals in the café).

Great wee place in Perth city centre - Edit
Airy space with helpful staff when I asked about allergens in ingredients, good food and more western standard than health based but good solid options and plenty cakes with 2 g/f options a friend will appreciate.
Read moreI had loaded fries with chilli which was soya not quorn thankfully as I'm allergic to mushrooms and quorn. And a decaf oat latte. Nearly went for a cheesecake or scone too but wasn't that hungry so another time..
The under floor well was a surprise, glass top so you can see the stonework going down, nice feature!
Pros: Variety of options, Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff, Tasty food
Cons: Ingredients/allergens not listed tho checked forme

Lovely vegan cafe - Edit
Stopped off in Perth on a Friday specifically to try Rascals for lunch and so glad we did. We tried a sandwich and a panini then left room for today’s special dessert, which was plum crumble and I can honestly say it was divine. (Wish I’d bought a second one to take home!) We did buy a couple of cakes to take away - lemon & poppy seed plus ginger loaf but I forgot to take photos. Everything we had was spot on so I’d definitely return.

We found this lovely cafe on our way back to Edinburgh. Staff were lovely and chatty, food was AMAZING, and the cafe is named after the owners dog Rascal! So lots of dog related things around- I was in my element! I will definitely be back

We brought our dogs at Rascals and they received a lot of love from the staff, this shouldn't be the header of my review but it was just amazing therefore I am writing it first. Good vegan place in general and amazing cakes, the apple pie was phenomenal. Fully recommended, big portions, lovely staff and great vibes!

Great vegan cafe - Edit
We visited Rascals in June 2025 and loved it. Everything is vegan and they serve a range of savoury dishes - soups, sandwiches, paninis, mac n cheese, burgers and a buddha bowl - and an amazing range of cakes, traybakes and scones. We had the mac n cheese and a BLT and both were delicious. The sweet goods are on the counter and they all looked really good. I settled for a vanilla cheesecake which was super light and tasty. My husband chose the special of hot apple pie and ice cream, which had loads of apple filing, and he really enjoyed that. The cafe feels spacious and the staff were great - we'll definitely be back.

Bang average (in a good way) - Edit
This was a quintessential cafe - unpretentious and serving fair homemade food. Their menu is reasonably concise with sandwiches and panini making up the majority of the offering. There was not much special, which in itself made Rascals cafe quite special.
Read moreTo be able to visit a cafe like this and have a panini with some soup is one of those things that you don’t often get to experience as a vegan. It was quite nostalgic, and the staff were lovely.
In a world of hummus and falafel, sometimes all you want is a coronation chicken panini. Cheers.

Their smoothies and cakes were very good. The cheesy garlic bread was also really good. The rest of the food we had was nothing special. All in all it’s a great place for lunch in Perth! 💚

Great food and a social enterprise - Edit
A must visit when you need sustenance in Perth. The food is delicious, very well prepared and a good range of choice - soups, burger, sandwiches, pasta dishes. Also great selection of sweet treats - cheesecake, scones, pastries, as well as cake, whenever I've visited. Have tried 'full english', scrambled tofu and bacon on muffin, mushroom arancini, BLT and smoothies, and of course plenty of cake, and no negatives with any of them. + It's a pleasure to support businesses that do so much for the community.

Lovely friendly vegan cafe - Edit
Found out about this place a few days before a long drive through Scotland, so it broke our journey up nicely. Staff were very friendly. We had a broccoli rice bowl (GF) and wild mushroom arancini (GF), both delicious! There were other gf options, the soup looked great. Also took a flapjack with us for the journey, which had an orange flavour, yum! Would definitely visit again when passing this way.
