Mexican
Non-veg
Serves meat, vegan options available. Modern Mexican fusion cuisine. Has several vegetarian choices such as chile relleno hojaldrado, huitlacoche quesadillas, mushroom empanadas and cheese calzone, bean soup, salads and enmoladas, of which most can be made vegan; please just ask. Keep in mind this is a small town and they might need clear instructions. Open Mon-Sun 9:00am-10:00pm.

Not vegan friendly - Edit
Definitely not vegan friendly. You ask for vegan options, you explain in detail what that means, they say ok and bring you meat...

Great view, nearly zero vegan options - Edit
First of all, this is a good restaurant with an amazing mountain view in the back, however labeling it as “veg-options” is a stretch. There are a couple vegetarian options but as far as I can tell the only vegan dish was the order of fries (delicious by the way). I would recommend this place for Vegans who already had diner and just want to have a beer (with fries) while viewing the mountains.

Cons: Nearly non-existant Vegan options

Vegana? No tengo optiones - Edit
There are definitely no vegan options at this place. They also don’t understand the concept of veganism. Lots of discussions. Ultimately got the empanadas (who knows if egg was used in the dough) in a dressing less salad, which they charged me extra for.

Cons: When asked no vegan options , Extra cost for vegan options , Staff rude

Serving meat to vegans? Just the beginning of the nightmare... - Edit
This restaurant is on Happy Cow.. It shouldn't.
Read moreYes the view is cool, but the staff is not friendly and not competent.
Several mistakes made our experience there the only bad (but really really bad!) restaurant experience we had during our trip in Mexico.
1/ During our trip in Mexico we had no difficulty to have vegan meals in every restaurants we went. People were really kind and understandable. They make their best and we never complain even if it was sometimes very simple. In Querreque the waitress was completely useless and didn't make an effort to help us find the plant-based possibilities in the menu (whereas there were plenty of them, hopefully in a week in Mexico I learned enough spanish to understand most of the menu but it is part of the job for a waitress to help the customers if they need it)
2/ We were very clear (in spanish!) about our veganism (sin carne, sin queso, sin crema, sin leche, sin huevos), we ordered mushrooms empanadas. Among the 4 empanadas, 3 were with mushrooms, 1 with meat. The staff barely apologize and just bring us another mushroom empanada
3/ They don't tell you they only take cash (there is a writing information at the desk but only in spanish and not with "transparent" word so we were not able to understand it) : It won't be very important if there was a way for international cards to get cash from a machine in Xilitla. It is not the case we needed to drive several miles to find an ATM which works with american cards (RED by HSBC) It was really late, after a lot of time wasted in discussion with the staff there and the owner on the phone, because our two kids were already asleep, we left half of the bill and promised we will find a way to have cash the day after (which we did and we paid our debt of course, even if they really didn't deserve it! we lost an entire morning finding a solution for getting cash, maybe be more clear from the beginning about that specific point would have be better for everybody!)
4/ This restaurant is absolutely not kid-friendly. No high chair, no consideration for kids (no smile, no nice attention). Once again the worst experience for our kids who were so welcomed in every other place we went. They just try to have a lounge/hype atmosphere but the lack of professionalism make it a big fail.
5/ Overall, high prices, bad service, all of this could be forgotten thanks to good food. But it wasn't the case, the food was not good either. Don't loose you time and money in this tourist trap!
Pros: the view
Cons: unprofessionnal and unfriendly staff, only cash (and not advertise it well), average food
