Whole page of vegetarian options, some say cheese optional while others don’t - not sure if there’s a reason all of them could not just be cheese optional to make them vegan?
Read moreI had the “Arepa Andrea Echeverry” - a very simple arepa with fried onion and mushrooms. Despite the minimal ingredients, the filling had a great smokey flavour and I enjoyed it. My partner had the vegetarian burger without cheese, it was fine but a little overpriced and lacking sauce.
Service was really disorganised - we were a group of 7 people and the food and drinks came out at all different times and some took ages. They also sent our friend’s dish to the wrong table.

Read moreThe hot dog was extremely dry, I don’t know if they just forgot the sauce but I wouldn’t recommend it at all! Also the plant based sausage was not good.
The burger is better, again a too dry, but with the ketchup for the fries it can be tasty. Maybe ask for extra sauce! The patty is a bit weird, it’s a huge blob of chickpeas. But at least this gives you some vegan-protein, which is hard to come by in this city…😅
We did not try the arepas, as we had to priorities receiving some protein with our diet here. They are all pure veggies or shrooms but sound good.

Vegan options for fast food - Edit
There was a vege page which you can take cheese off which had a few options. Got a burger and was surprised how good it was! We also got falafel to start and were impressed with the flavours.

I had a Cesaria Evora arepa and it could have been better. The arepa didn’t taste good (the dough tasted sweet and not fresh) and the beans tasted sugary too.

Read moreUnfortunately ALL the vegetarian options contained cheese, and there was no vegan cheese. On my first visit I had the Arepa Cesaria Evora (17.800 COP) and the Arepa Andrea Echeverry (17.800 COP) - both without cheese. The Cesaria Evora was dry and very disappointing. The Echeverry was alright. On my second visit I had the vegetarian burger without cheese. It was alright.
I'd only go here as a last resort, there are way better restaurants in Cartagena.

Not the best vegan arepas I've ever had, but good enough for a snack. They have a veggie section in their menu which I appreciate. Prices are fair and the place feels very cosy and authentic. 😄

I stopped in on a hot day for a beer and a black bean-onions-mushroom arepa. No regrets! Totally delicious and they probably used an entire cup and a half of beans.

My vegetarian partner had the cheese, onion and mushroom arepa, which he describes as "fine". I asked for the black bean and cheese areap to come with something other than cheese, as I am a vegan. Was told avocado would be extra and could have tomato. When it came to paying, both the tomato and avocado were additional, at 5mil each, making for a very expensive arepa.

Super rich arepas - Edit
Delicious arepas stuffed with mushrooms. They swapped cheese for guacamole per our request. Surprisingly the arepa itself was dry and the worst part. But the filling was so bursting with flavor it made the entire experience worth it.

Often out of stock for Veggie Dog, Veggie Burger - Edit
I went to try the Bob Marley and the Veggie Dog. Went on a Sunday night, they were out of the Veggie Dogs, they said they just ran out, so I left saying I would come back another night. I went back on a Tuesday during the daytime, to make sure they would have the Veggie Dogs this time. They didn't and said they hoped for an order to come in on the coming Saturday. So I had the Bob Marley, which was great, and the wok vegetables - also tasty. Two plates was too much, so I took the leftovers to my hotel for the next day. I went back a few weeks later and again they didn't have the Veggie Dog, so I said I'd have the veggie burger - which they said they also didn't have, because it comes from the same veggie protein as the Veggie Dog, and they were out of it again. Eventually after another visit, they did have the Veggie Dog and I liked it. So if you are planning to go for dinner and you want to eat vegan, you may want to stop by in the daytime, check the menu and see if what you want will be in stock.
