Queen of the beans... - Edit
Interestly I ate here on my last visit two years ago, but it was a different vegan place back then, which I really enjoyed.
Read moreIt's up the back of a food hall, offering various warungs around a central open pavilion with tables and seating. So if you're travelling with people who must consume meat it's a great option for everyone.
Unfortunately it's my last day in Bali, so I'll only get one opportunity to eat here so it made it a little tricky with what to choose, as it all looked so good and there's quite a few options to try.
I went with the "chicken" katsu black pepper, the wonton soup, and an iced soy coffee.
The coffee was completely different to any I'd tried in Bali until now. Creamy as if it was a condensed soy without the sweetness, strong but tasting like bitter caramel.
The soup was delicious. A lovely mild broth with wontons, plant meat balls, and greens.
The crumbed protein was nice, however the black pepper sauce on the "chicken", although flavourful, was too intense for my palate, although paired with the rice and salad veg it was nice. I've noticed in Bali they often reduce the sauces a little too far for western palates.
I probably wouldn't order the coffee or the black pepper dish again. But there's definitely other choices I'd be happy to try.
As a side note, if you feel like ordering in and not leaving your accommodation, you can order via apps like Grab. But they do close at 8pm.
