Loved the bagel - Edit
I had an iced coffee with soy. There were 3 shots but I could have had fewer shots. It was perfect though! I had the loaded bagel. The bagel itself was delicious. I loved all the seeds on the bagel. The filling was nice too. My partner had a hot chocolate and the breakfast burger and enjoyed those too. They have groceries too and I bought some sweets.

Really good food - Edit
We got the quarter pounder, cheese and onion toastie and Mince and cheese pie.
Read moreThe quarter pounder was up there with one of the best vegan burgers I've had. It's not like a McDonald's quarter pounder though, but still really really good.
The toastie and pie were yummy but just not quite as good as the burger

Food was delicious and nice large portions - Edit
I was abit disappointed when I looked at the menue, it had a couple breakfast items, a bagel and burgers. But when my breakfast burger with waffle fries came out, they went way up in my estimation. The food was close to perfection, my fries were perfect 10/10 ! and the burger was one of the best I have had. My omnivore friend was also very happy with his breakfast and said the cheese was so creamy and delicious 😋, he said he liked it more than cows cheese.

Food menu, beverages, treats and groceries - all vegan! - Edit
Had lunch, then shopped. No animal products anywhere in the store. The Breakfast Burger was delicious! The tasty patty came with special touches: hash-brown sticks and a bun with cheez melted onto it! Menu includes smoothies, milkshakes, housemade ginger ale, hot chocolate; buddha bowl, onion rings, daily soup, breakfast plate.
Read moreI appreciate there being three sizes of coffees - I had a small soy latte, which is the amount I wanted.
Shop shelves have many interesting products and include some good things for travellers, such as peanut-butter sachets, oatmilk powder and containers of pâté and “fish” salad. Sweet things include Dandies marshmallows (maple-flavoured too!), Vego chocolate bars (a world favourite), Biscoff spread and Dunedin-made cheezy spreads in three flavours (I bought the 'creamy camembert with hint of truffle oil'). Store sells several barista-style plant milks, whipped topping, appetizers and gift boxes, no-alcohol beers, spices, soup mixes, some fresh breads and buns, handmade soaps and many gluten-free items.
Cabinet is full of fabulous sandwiches, wraps, savoury pies, cinnamon rolls, cupcakes and other baked treats. I’ve tried several, and they are all scrumptious.
They’re also selling a good-looking cookbook of some of their wares.
Catering, wholesale and online shop available.
Closed Sun-Mon. Kitchen menu till 4 pm. Credit-card surcharge 2%.

With love - Edit
I visited every time I went to Christchurch, and it's one of my favourite cafes in NZ because everything seems to be made with love.
Read moreThe space feels quite magic - a beautiful old wooden building which is quiet and decorated with love, and contrasts with the non-descript industrial area it's standing in. The staff are genuinely lovely, and the food has always been amazing. I have the feeling that the menu has shifted across the years to become a bit less original - with diverse burgers and fries, but also a delicious buddha bowl (what I had this time around) and big brekkie. The cabinet also always has great wraps and sammies - I still remember the wrap I bought on my motorbike trip and ate on Kaikoura beach.
They also used to sell the essentials, which has now expanded to desirables!

Vegan Paradise!! - Edit
I went there for lunch and it was simply amazing. Everything on the menu sounded delicious, as well as all the food (quite a lot) in the cabinet.
Read moreI decided to take the buddha bowl with a green smoothie, and for dessert i took the blue latte and a kiwi/raspberry Choco Cake. Incredible good taste!!
For takeaway i got the cookie and a savoury muffin.

Lovely cafe run by people who obviously care about delicious vegan food - Edit
My boyfriend and I shared Bob’s big breakfast and Tex Mex enchiladas (daily special) and oh my gosh they were both delicious! I think the sausages in the breakfast were house-made and we both thought they were perhaps the best vegan sausages we’ve had. The enchiladas had a hemp-based protein in the filling which was also insanely good, similar to soy curls.
Read moreAlso got a pain au chocolat (pretty good) and matcha latte with coconut milk (different and richer than most matcha lattes I’ve had but definitely a fan). Got an Afghan cookie to go, which was rich and chocolatey even 4 hours later.
Everything tasted great, good sized servings, the only issue is there were too many options in the sweets cabinet, if we were staying in the city longer I would’ve come back to try more.
The place also had a lovely, warm vibe. I think there was a sign saying the business was for sale, I hope it sticks around ❤️
Pros: So many sweets to choose from!, Delicious brunch options , Generous servings
Cons: Hard to choose! (Not a con), A bit of a walk from central (also a good thing

Our favorite vegan restaurant in Christchurch - Edit
We tried all four 100% vegan spots in Christchurch and this one was our number 1. We just loved everything about it! The food, the people, the location! We ate there only once but got some of their amazing cabinet food on multiple occasions. Highly recommend!

Fabulous vegan cafe! - Edit
Fabulous vegan cafe with yummy savoury and sweet options. I returned every day whilst in Christchurch and tried the Breakfast Burger, the Loaded Bagel, Sausage Roll and toastie. A Cronut, Caramel Bun, choc Chip Cookie and Fudge. All to die for! The staff were brilliant and couldn’t do enough. There were also shelves of vegan and gluten free goods to buy. Highly recommend a visit. You really don’t need to be vegan to appreciate this fabulous cafe!!

Good - Edit
3 of us had lunch here. Good bagel, coffees and “sausage roll”, yummy smoothie and doughnuts; and okay quinoa salad which, however, had very little quinoa. Smallish portions for the price.

YUMMMMM - Edit
We both had the quarter pounders and LOVED them! Prices were so cheap compared to what we were expecting, and portions HUGE. Partner ordered a side of chips and could barely eat any after the burger 😆 Burger was so tasty. They have plenty other options on display cases, sweet treats, and a store full of vegan items. Will definitely be back!

One of the best vegan breakfasts we've had anywhere. Strikes a rare balance between all the best notes of a full breakfast and feeling clean and healthful. Staff were super helpful and accommodating. Also took away a couple of sandos for lunch and both of those were excellent too.

The BEST Vegan Cafe. - Edit
Simply the best in food, service and atmosphere. I have been to Portershed more times than I can count. I love that everything is made in house and freshly made. And of course, the Hash Attack burger is the BEST brekkie burger I have ever had. And I'm sure Emma makes them bigger every time I order one to see if I can finish it.. It has beaten me a couple of times! 😄

Vegan Wonderland not to be missed - Edit
Got the big Brekky and it was absolutely mind blowing. Beans had an amazing smoky flavor and the chorizo sausage was the best vegan sausage I’ve ever had. The store sells tons of vegan products and has a cozy atmosphere with very friendly staff. Do not skip on this gem as it’s one of the best vegan spots in NZ!
