Awful people

I used to really love Plant Blonde and what their brand was supposed to stand for however hearing recently that Plant Blonde have knowingly used NON VEGAN PRODUCTS in their bakes I am disgusted and furious!

To top it off, hearing from the absolutely amazing staff about how awful they have been treated over the years by Jen and Mark has shocked me! The fact Jen and Mark are now working from a garden shed, still baking, selling and using the Plant Blonde name is beyond embarrassing and a kick in the teeth to their poor staff who have gone months without pay. How can they sleep at night and have the cheek to be posting online as if all is wonderful? I would never order or buy from them ever again and would suggest the same to others.

This review has 2 stars only because happy cow will not let reviews have less than 2 stars if the business is fully vegan HOWEVER as this business has knowingly used and sold non vegan items I do not think this is appropriate.

Pros: Their shops have closed , They no longer employ anyone

Cons: Owners attitude , Use of non vegan products, Treatment of their wonderful staff

Used to love it...totally over it.

I used to love this place. I fondly remember brownies, blondies, pistachio and raspberry buns, viennese whirls...I went all the time to treat myself to something new.

Now it's...empire biscuit. Empire biscuit. Empire biscuit.

They are so boring, so easy, and so utterly chock full of sugar that they have no flavour. I went 3 times last month to the west end and city locations cos I was craving a brownie terribly, to no avail. Just empire biscuits as far as the eye could see. I gave up and last time I merely got a coffee while I got my hair done next door, and it was disgusting. I'm giving up on the place which is a shame as I used to love it.

Loads of local rumours about the managers treating their staff horribly too.

Way too sweet

The staff was friendly, but the two types of biscuits we tried (lemon tart and biscoff) both tasted mostly of pure sugar and were somewhat pricy.

Delicious vegan pastries and coffee

We had a cinnamon roll and raspberry biscuit. Both of them delicious. Next to that, perfect oat cappuccino and very friendly people.

Great cinnamon bun!

Not a huge range, maybe 5 types of biscuits and two cinnamon buns, but that cream cheese cinnamon bun was so good!

The best sandwich I have ever had

Popped to Plant Blonde on the last day of our trip to Glasgow
Got the panko breadcrumbed schnitzel, mozzarella and chilli jam sandwich and it was DIVINE. The bread was superb and the filling was very generous, gooey, crunchy and delicious. I thought the size of the sandwich was pretty epic (picture does not do the size justice!!) and very good value
I loved it so much I got another one for my lunch/dinner on the train back home (5 hour journey!)
My husband picked up ‘yesterday’s sandwich’ which was feta and onion and he said it was tasty

We also got some Biscoff Empire biscuits for the train which were tasty and the coffee we had in the cafe was lovely

Wish I could move Plant Blonde to my home town!

Great cafe

Great for a hot drink and a sweet treat. Not really for a meal.
There weren’t loads of voices when we were there, mostly cookies and biscuits.

Great relaxed afternoon

We were starving, so nipped in for smoked ham, seitan salad rolls, coffee, tea and empire biscuits. Fantastic.

Pros: The empire biscuits

Sweet vegan treats in Partick

Great place to grab a coffee and treat before a west end wander. They specialise in biscuits (birthday empire is my favourite) but also do cinnamon buns, Viennese whirls, cupcakes. They tend not to do many chocolatey things apart from the brownies (which are tasty), a bit pricey but worth it.

The Best empire biscuits!

A fantastic bakery in the West End, small seating area inside and outside. I've taken non-vegan family here and they love it. Their focaccia sandwiches are so good and their empire biscuits cannot be beaten!

Decepción

Se pide fuera para tomar en la terracita o para llevar. Te pegan un palo por una galletita azucarada rellena de azúcar, decepción en forma de sablazo

Pros: Vegano

Cons: Precio, Azúcar por doquier, Enano

Don’t really get the hype.

I’ve tried Plant Blonde a few times due to the incredible reviews. I feel as though, despite how cute the shop & marketing is, the food is lacking. The selection isn’t that great. From what I’ve tried, the ‘blondies’ are dense and tasteless. The brownies are sickly and taste artificial to me. It’s a shame because the service is amazing and the shop looks so cute! Maybe just not for me.

Pros: The branding and shop is adorable

Cons: The food

Tasty biscuits

Currently it’s operating as just a hole in the wall for take away orders. When we visited they only had biscuits, buns, coffee and hot chocolate available. We got a lemon curd empire biscuit & a chocolate and strawberry bun and both were amazing! The lemon curd added a nice contrast and balance to the sweetness of the biscuit. We got some hot chocolates which were good too. Hope they re-open the sit in area and have savoury food consistently available #Veganuary

Perfect for a quick lunch and a treat

Slightly spendy, but very tasty sandwich and beautiful cakes - not entirely clear whether to order at the window or in the shop but that’s a minor issue. Overall would definitely visit again next time I’m in the area

Pros: Sandwich was great , Good location, Gorgeous cakes

Excellent

Brilliant cake and brownies. Because it’s all vegan, there’s loads of choice. They recently seemed to have closed the sit in area which is a shame but they do have a few seats outside.

Lovely cafe!

I contacted Plant Blonde because I was hosting a meetup linked to a conference at the university. They were so lovely! They sorted takeaway food for all ~20 of us with no issue, despite having less than 24 hours notice. The food itself was lovely. I had a BLT focaccia, a Biscoff brownie and an oat latte. They were all incredible and great value for money. Highly recommended!

Pros: Delicious food, Wonderful staff, Value for money
