No vegetarian/vegan option for lunch (only pescetarian)

No vegetarian option at all for lunch. You need to book. The menu set includes a main course of meat or salmon, and all the pies in the set had meat too. When I asked for vegetarian options, they say I could go with the salmon if possible (... -_-) and that I should just not eat pie with meat from the tabehodai (which there were none I think). I had hoped the waiter yo suggest an alternative option.... Very disappointed regarding this. Based on this and their reaction, i'm not sure it's worth having this restaurant on happy cow (but Idk about their dinner options).
The desert pies (vegetarian) were awesome though, worth the (high) money! I did eat the menu (I am flexible in such situation as I was with friends, and I must say it was great!)

Pros: Good food, Great desert apple pies (vegetarian), Eating on the terrace tables was very nice

Cons: No vegetarian/vegan option at lunch., You need to book, often full but not feel crowded

Vegan Savory Pie

I was really excited to see a vegan pie on the menu of a pie restaurant in Japan, however I was quite underwhelmed by the pie itself. While other pies that were arriving to the tables nearby looked properly shaped and very scrumptious, ours seemed more of a pile of vegetables wrapped in burned phyllo dough and bathed in oil. The taste was nothing to rave about either. We were quite grateful though that the staff offered to make for us the roasted garlic potatoes without the butter they are usually cooked in. There are no vegan sweet pies on the menu right now.

Cons: Expensive

Vegan pie only available at dinner time (5:00- 9:30)

Pie Holic (closest stations: Bashamichi or Nihon-Odori ) is a “California Soul Food” restaurant located in the fancy new Marine & Walk Yokohama shopping center. Apparently California Soul Food means... pie. Lots and lots of pie.

They have two vegan options, one savory and one sweet. They’re normally only available at dinnertime, the server said, but they kindly made an exception for us and agreed to serve us the vegan pies at lunchtime. Maybe because there weren’t many customers at the time?

The savory option is called the Kanagawa Veggie Vegan Pie. It did indeed feature lots of veggies, but very little in the way of flavoring. There was a marinara sauce of sorts inside, but not nearly enough of it. When I got to the bottom of the pie, it was a soggy, oily mess. I would not eat this again.

The apple pie was a lot better— sweet and delicious, with lots of cinnamon— but this pie also suffered from the problem of too much oil. I felt a little sick to my stomach for an hour or two shortly after my meal, likely because of all the oil I’d ended up consuming.

The inside of the restaurant is really nice, and they get props for including vegan options at all. But I’m not in a hurry to go back. 😐

nice apple pie

I tried the only vegan choices they had- vegan apple pie and a savory pie. I also got black coffee.

There are other choices that appear like they might be vegetarian but the menu isn't clear. I visited the restaurant with a vegetarian and they really would have appreciated if vegetarian items were labeled on the menu.

The crusts are made of phyllo dough and very flaky.

I liked the vegan apple pie. The savory pie was fine too but I thought the dessert was the winner.

I was charmed by the coffee mugs and free refills that remind me of diners in the States.

I wouldn't go back just because I've tried everything they have but I am not sad that I went once.

Pros: free refills on coffee, apple pie is good

Cons: very limited vegan choices, unclear if other choices are vegetarian, needs better labeling
