Amazing California burritos. Only real downside is they don’t have an online ordering option and you may be stuck with a dial tone for a while if you are trying to order for pick up.

I’ve been here a few times, and ordered delivery a few times, and it never disappoints. Taquitos are my go to order. Today they had elotes as a special and it was delicious.

I don’t love that you order at a kiosk (must be a CA thing), but the food was really good. I had the cactus enchiladas and loved them. The churro ice cream thing was not good and my kids didn’t even like it. I’ve never had a more flavorless churro. But the chips, salsa, guacamole, and entrees were great. Has a kids menu!

First encountered Phatties at a vegan popup at LocalRoots tap house in Vista. The food was great and we were pleased to learn they had a restaurant in Esco. A visit there confirmed they really know how to do vegan mex. Good portions at a fair price. We've been back several times and have never been disappointed (except when they were closed early😒 We had them cater a party at our home with their food truck - all of our guests (many non-vegan) were impressed.

The interior is such an authentic display of culture, the dishes on the menu were all so appetizing. I opted for the Phattie’s Platter which is good if you’re indecisive and can put it back like me, lol. My son ordered the gorditas plate & we both were impressed at how much the flavors and food tasted like my mother’s own Mexican food. I can see myself eating here every time I stop into Escondido to visit my son, I was worried Escondido would not have many vegan options when we were moving him in for college. Overall very happy to find this restaurant!

Phatties has good food. It's a little on the pricey side, but it's always good. The problem is they close early often and don't adhere to their posted hours. Very annoying and frustrating!

I love Phatties. So amazing to have a long menu with so many options, all vegan. I recommend the enmoladas and carne asada tacos. Keep in mind the serving sizes are huge here. Food is great and but the dine in is a bit run down looking, but that's part of the Phatties vibe, and it fits in with the post-apocalyptic vibe of present day downtown Escondido with its numerous mostly empty dilapidated strip malls.

I love that you can roll into a sleepy retiree town like Escondido and find amazing vegan Mexican food I was visited for a day only and this was the highlight. I had a lovely adobada taco and shrimp taco but the best was Phattie's special gordita: "Deep fried corn flour patty stuffed with refried beans, vegan chicarron, lettuce, pico de gallo, avocado & vegan cream." The corn shell, almost like Mexican pita, was so light and crispy but still help all the fillings. Friendly and full of people!

We ordered the Enmoladas with soyrizo and potato filling, gordita plate (with two separate fling) and kids quesedilla. Everything was excellent. In particular the mole sauce on the Enmoladas. Plus the side of the spicy tomatilla sauce was amazing. Recommend the cucumber lemonade too. Didn't quite love the Champurrado - first time for me.

Husband and I shared the Phatties Burrito, birria tacos and taquitos. Everything was amazing. Next time I'm going to skip the taquitos and opt for dessert since I was totally stuffed and couldn't order it. Vegan or not, this is some of the best Mexican food I've ever had.
