Incredible Food - Edit
Best flavors I have had, feel completely full and plan on coming back to sample other menu items. I had the Tofu Steak as others had reccomended and it was 100% worth it. The location is fantastic to anyone touristing Asakusa and this restaurant has made HappyCow a worthwhile purchase for me. I wish I could give 5 stars.

Great find in Asakusa - Edit
Great restaurant in Asakusa. Opened not long ago for the upcoming olympics .The Tofu steak was excellent but the Udon noodle were so so. It came with vegetables tempura which were tasty and well cooked. I would come back and try to sushi. The price was overall reasonable.

Friendly, tasty, and welcoming! - Edit
I picked this spot from the reviews and I'm so glad that I did. There was a woman outside recruiting customers, which was funny because we were already headed there anyway!
Read moreWe get inside and are greeted warmly by the owner the staff in perfect English (another reviewer noted she is from New York, which rings true given her accent).
I ordered the tofu steak meal option and am so glad I did. It was *incredibly* good. It came with rice, miso soup (which I learned you drink straight from the bowl), some roast vegetables, little spirals of mashed white and sweet potatoes, and some dollops of condiments. The steak was soft but had a little crust of curry salt on it, and it was *so* tasty, especially with the miso paste on it.
The owner said she opened the spot ahead of the 2020 Olympics, and noted with pride they have an official selection of wines from the Olympic Committee. I wish her the best, because her spot is just so good. I only wish I could go back every day!
Pros: Tasty food, Vegan options, Friendly, English-speaking staff
Cons: Small, could easily become very crowded!

The food was amazing, quality was impeccable, deserves 5 star, but this app doesn’t allow that for meat serving restaurants. Which isn’t fair. More expensive than what this app shows

one of the most amazing meals I've had in my life. The things this chef can do with tofu are otherworldly. The staff are incredibly friendly, helpful and attentive, their english is perfect. The different flavours brought forward with the tofu steak are indescribably amazing.

Delicious, but too expensive - Edit
The food is very delicious and they have various vegetarian and helal food options, but the experience is far away from typical Japanese kindness.
Read moreFor example the order process was very pushy, the waitress stayed around and tried to sell specific (expensive) meal sets assuming I‘m not vegetarian but my wife is (which is exactly the opposite way around). Also, when I chose a meal, she wanted to write down the related more expensive set instead of just the meal I ordered. Apart from that she was unfriendly by stating that my wife has a clear accent (it‘s not her job to judge that) and by not bringing us any water or tissues although she asked us if we wanted any and we said yes.
If we were in any way unfriendly to her, okay, but we were super friendly and always smiling, so I can‘t understand why she was doing such a bad service for us.
Apart from that, all meals are overpriced, especially the drinks though, which is very atypical for Japanese restaurants. Some drinks aren‘t even delicious, like the Macha Soda, it‘s just a tourist trap because it‘s got „Macha“ in its name. Also the food was very fatty which is also not typical Japanese cuisine.
Pros: Vegan options, Delicious food
Cons: Overpriced, especially drinks, No typical Japanese service, Tourist trap overall

Super friendly and knowledgeable wait staff. Plenty of tasty Vegan options. The Tofu steak and Vegan sushi are a must! Adequately priced for the quality of the food which is exceptional. Locally sourced and high quality produced. A lot of care and attention is taken in every aspect. Yuka was our waitress and she was very professional and accommodating.

The tofu steak of my dreams - Edit
I visited the restaurant due to reports of vegan takoyaki however, the waitress (who spoke perfect English) and the chefs confirmed that the takoyaki is vegetarian not vegan. They did however have several vegan dishes including the amazing tofu steak which is served with a medley of incredible vegetables and mixed grilled mushrooms and an assortment of delicious sauces. They also do a lovely salad made from Kyoto vegetables with a tangy sauce. We also tried the vegan sushi which is not on their current menu but will be on the new menu and is available on request. The sushi was beautifully prepared. The service was brilliant. Will be back!

Fresh Ingredients, Super Tasty! - Edit
Best meal of my trip to Japan! I honestly still think about my dinner here and how delicious it was. The owner went over the menu with me after asking if I was vegetarian (said I’m vegan) and recommended a few dishes. There weren’t many options so I decided to try all of what she recommended which was the salad, tofu steak, and vegan sushi. She also recommended some sake that would go great with my meal (and she was right!)
Read moreThe salad was absolutely refreshing! All the ingredients tasted like they were freshly picked off a farm or something. The dressing was a kind of citrus dressing which was strong but once mixed in really complemented all the vegetables in the salad. Also the bowl was huge so definitely good for sharing.
The vegan sushi was beautiful. I almost didn’t want to eat it because just looked really pretty. Also amazingly fresh ingredients. There was one piece I didn’t like which tasted really smokey, but the rest of the pieces were really good.
TOFU. STEAK. If nothing else, get this dish. Phenomenal! It’s basically a whole block of tofu that’s been fried but not overly greasy and the inside is sooooo soft. There’s a miso paste that came with it which was delicious as well. Even the veggies that are served with the steak tasted SO FRESH. And they were fried too! The piece of sweet potato I had was great. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
One thing I will say, this restaurant is a little pricey, but the food was absolutely worth it. If you’re tired of eating at convenience stores and ramen and want some gourmet food, this is your place.
Pros: Fresh ingredients, Great service
Cons: Not a ton of vegan options

Best so far in Japan! - Edit
So far in Japan, I’ve had a very disappointing experience as a vegetarian - most restaurants don’t understand that fish is also a meat! Here, the owner is from New York and purposefully opened the restaurant because she knew there was a market for good vegan/vegetarian food with the upcoming 2020 Olympics.
Read moreI had my pick of options (for the first time this whole trip) and felt like I was getting a real meal, rather than trying to make a meal out of sides. The owner explained all the options to me and happily discussed what went into each dish to make sure I knew what I was ordering. I had the vegetarian sushi and vegetable tempura, both of which were ordered special to exclude mushrooms (which I usually have to pick around). I also had matcha tiramisu (not vegan, but vegetarian!) for dessert and it was so much better than the standard espresso version (though, I hate coffee in all forms, so, take it with a grain of salt coffee lovers) Overall, a wonderful and satisfying meal!
Pros: Many options, Adaptable to your dietary requirements, Great English
Cons: On the expensive side

Great food! - Edit
I was wandering around Asakusa with a friend, struggling to find anywhere to eat when we walked past a sign saying tofu steak! It was destiny. The staff welcomed us in and were very friendly - spoke excellent English! They explained the menu and told me which dishes were vegan, and also made some recommendations. The food was incredible! I had the tofu steak, onigiri (rice balls) and they made some vegan miso soup for me especially. Unfortunately I was too excited and forgot to take a photo, but it was beautifully presented and had such great flavour. Would definitely visit again!

Best vegan restaurant in Tokyo - Edit
This restaurant could not be more accommodating. The staff speak excellent English and are patient and friendly. The kitchen made us personalised sushi with vegetables of our choice (we have not found any vegan shushi so far so this was amazing) All the food was al a catre and made with fresh ingredients. The staff taught us how to correctly drink sake (out of a wooden box) and made time for us. Even the chefs were friendly and came out for a photo and a chat. Only drawback was one of our dishes had fish paste on it, they were mortified but I reccommend telling them directly what you can and cannot eat. Will be back again tomorrow to try their vegan noodles!
