Ovo-lacto vegetarian restaurant in Moshi Town. Small menu but good quality and thoughtful mission.

Ovo-lacto vegetarian restaurant attached to a guest house

This is a vegetarian restaurant attached to a guest house a bit out of town. Major NGO vibes, as they also run a training program for young women interested in working in the hospitality industry. As such, communication can be a little off, so if you aren't sure if something's vegan or want specific information about the menu, it's a good idea to talk to one of the people in charge who are instructors and managers at the same time I believe.

The reason I'm only giving it four stars is because the one item on the menu that is listed as being vegan, which is literally named "vegan burger," actually has egg in it. I found this out when I asked what on the menu was vegan, but I wouldn't have known this if I had not asked for a rundown of the menu from one of the managers. So make sure to talk to somebody in charge just to be safe, as the young women who are in training here do not speak very much English.

If they just got rid of a few dishes or alter the recipes slightly, it would be a completely vegan place, and hopefully they will do that in the future

Pros: Most of the menu is vegan, Very sweet staff

Cons: Staff in training, sometimes without supervisi, Vegan burger actually has eggs so be careful

Lovely place, great mission, great food

Love the mission of this place. Very sweet humans working here and training. Food takes a while to come to your table, I think this is because they are training the young women here to cook and take care of guests. The one thing that was marked vegan was not but they were very clear to point out when we asked. Really tasty food. Great atmosphere.

Good food for a good purpose

This restaurant is part of an NGO and is also a hostel. They train women from difficult backgrounds in hospitality and secure them jobs in the future. They are all super friendly and the food is delicious. Unfortunately the place is a bit outside of the center in the area called "rau" but easy to reach with a bajaji and most bajaji drivers know it.
