Hard to find vegan options, but possible - Edit
The location is very convenient but it was very hard to find vegan options; everything contains fish dashi!
Read moreA staff member told me I could eat basicaly rice, salad and sweet beans. Even some vegetables were cooked with animal products.
It's quite expensive for the little things we can eat. =/

organic buffet restaurant. sounds good but be careful, get somebody to expression every dish for you. after doing that only 5 dishes or so were left that didn't contain meat, fish or dashi. even less for vegan. to be vegetarian friendly please label your dishes! thank you

Yummy, but not clearly labeled - Edit
There are some safe options, but most of the food would benefit from clear labeling. E.g. Japanese-style egetable curry usually contains some meat extract, miso soup usually contains katsuobushi (bonito). Is it the case in Moku moku? No idea. That said, the food tastes really great. As for the waiting time: we went there at 9pm (1 hour before the buffet closes, 2 hours before the restaurant closes), and didn't have to wait.

really lovely place - Edit
Firstly- it's not suitable for vegans but is definately suitable for vegetarians! Though there are meat and fish options there are plenty of vegetarian friendly dishes.
Read moreThe restaurant is buffet style and there were a selection of gorgeous raw salads, soups, fruit, breads, stews, a lovely vegetable curry, rice, vegetable tempura and an ice-cream bar. (Though they called the icecream 'シャーベット' (sherbet)I'm pretty sure it was just regular icecream). It's definately worth a visit if you are vegetarian- there are plenty of options..I ate so much!
However, the downside was that we had to wait over an hour for a table. We'd tried to go the previous day, but there were 17 groups waiting so we postponed it. The day we went there was only 3 groups waiting so we took our ticket and sat down. They didn't let any of the 3 groups before us in for another hour and then still took even longer to seat us. By the time we were let in there were 25 groups waiting and they weren't letting anyone in even though loads of groups were coming out. When we eventually got in loads of the tables inside were empty so I have no idea why they weren't letting anyone in. It was really annoying so I advise you to ask how long the wait will be.
However in the end it was definately worth the wait! I thoroughly recommend!
Pros: plenty of vegetarian options, friendly staff, great atmosphere and decoration
Cons: terrible waiting system, not vegan friendly

Not Vegan Friendly... - Edit
As a raw fooder, I used to love going there but not anymore.
Read moreThey are just not vegan friendly.
I like their fresh veggies, but not much choice as vegan, and it is a buffet (one price).
Even if you are Japanese, it will be difficult to tell which one is vegan or vegetarian.
Pros: Location
Cons: Not Vegan or vegetarian friendly

I double checked with the restaurant, and they said they used to do a bit of veggie dishes, but that is no longer available. All their dishes, except some veggie sticks, are mixed with animal products.

You must eat here if you're a veggie in Nagoya! - Edit
There are two Moku Mokus - one is in Nagoya Station Towers, on the 12th floor.
Read moreThe menu changes monthly because everything is completely seasonal to the organic farm. This might mean you don't know what you're getting, but you're always guaranteed to find fresh raw salads (this month is rainbow chard, rainbow carrots, cucumber, apple, pepper, rocket, and a big green salad) as well as plenty of vegan friendly prepared salads. Yes, some of the dishes contain meat, but honestly, there's enough veggie stuff to make any vegan or vegetarian who's been struggling in Japan very happy. By afternoon, there's an onigiri (riceball) bar, and at night it's a roast meat station. There's also plenty of hot food options, teas, and an ice cream bar.
You can't make a reservation - you have to tap through a screen to select the number of people. The first number you tap for is number of adults, the second is number of children. A staff member will help you though :) You will then be placed in the queue. I've waited over an hour before on busy times! If you scan the QR code on the ticket you get given, it will update with how many people are in front of you in the queue. Since Moku Moku is located in La Chic department store, there's plenty for you to check out. I recommend the basement, which has some lovely organic natural stores.
Pros: Fresh salad guaranteed, Range of veggie options, Central location
Cons: A little expensive, but well worth it, Possibly long queues

Moku Moku more more! - Edit
I love Moku-Moku. So many lovely organic foods to choose from, and the ingredients are generally listed so you know what is fine to eat. I would say about half of the food is vegan. It can get a little expensive at dinner, but for an organic buffet and finding a display of fruit in Japan, you get your moneys worth! There is often a line, so be prepared to wait 15-45 minutes (make sure you write your name on the waiting list!). You can also buy organic foods there!

Cons: can be a wait, a little pricey
