A mash of overlit downlight and punchy monitor screens, dilapidated menus and vinyl floor.
Read moreMost food here uses ghee, so the only vegan option is veg dosa or fries. This is a shame because so much of the menu looks great and would taste just as good without dairy. The dosa is very good though, the fries were tasteless and seemed to be cooked in old oil.
The shop downstairs is amazing and worth a visit for the excellent range of pickles, paste and powders.

Cafeteria-style, self-serve - Edit
Located upstairs above a well-stocked Indian all-vegetarian grocery store. Enter through the store door and take the staircase to your left. Open 1pm-9pm, six days a week. All vegetarian chaat cuisine. Vegan food not marked on the menu. I asked for a vegan Chole Tikki ($6.99) and it took two attempts to get it dairy-free. It was tasty, spicy, but pretty pricey i thought, seeing it was served in a small tinfoil container with a plastic spoon. Anyhow it's a clean, cafeteria-style place with free seating and booths along the windows. Cash only. Not wheelchair accessible. Not exactly vegan-friendly but hopefully this will improve with time.
