where is the mercy?

Annoying surcharge for plant milk. Hypocritical name "Mercy" should be rethought.

Otherwise a nice little cafe with simple furnishings. Vegan options on a Friday morning were limited to hummus bagel and banana bread.

Two small counters with seats at the front and 5 small tables (two with couches) at the back. Suitable for brief work sessions. There is also a piano.

Cons: no "mercy" for animals

Pricy but delicious

In my opinion the coffee specialties are worth the money. Every coffee can be made vegan with soy- or oatmilk ( 30ct).
They also offer some vegan food like hummus bagel, bananabread and granola bowl. Cake is offered too but they differ from time to time, better ask what vegan cakes they offer the day you are there.

Pros: Friendly staff, Nice selection, Stampcard

Cons: Milk substitutes cost extra

cozy café

i went here to study for a few hours and tested some of their (well labelled) vegan options. savoury items are bagels, one of which is vegan: the hummus one. it's a bagel with hummus, tomatoes, balsamic vinegar i guess and rucola. it's toasted so a bit warm which i liked. unfortunately, i dislike tomatoes so it's a pity that there were not more options to choose from. still good for the price of 4,90€.
then i had tea from cheritea for 3,50€ but in a large cup. there were also fresh teas available for 4,50€. if you're a coffee lover, you have maaaany options and the latte art is beautiful. sadly, plant milk costs extra ( 0,3€ for oatly, 0,5 for alpro coconut/almond/soy).
lastly, i tried one of their banana breads. i went for apple and cinnamon and it was delicious and fluffy and nor too sweet and the price was fair, too (3,80€).

the space is cozy but rather small (about 5 seats in the main room, about 12 rooms in the backroom, a few outside). the backroom is perfect for studying, working or reading even though the music is a little bit too loud in my opinion.
staff's extremely friendly and very kind.

can recommend this place even though i'd wish for a few more vegan options to choose from:)

Pros: cozy, great for studying, great latte art, friendly staff, fair prices, vegan is labelled

Cons: not that many (savoury) vegan options, ⛔️♿ because of stairs

Pros: Verschiedene vegane Pflanzenmilchsorten, Sehr nette Inhaberin , Schöne Einrichtung

Expensive and not that vegan friendly

Only the DRY banana bread is vegan and plant milk is not greatly advertised. The name “mercy” does not do animals any justice. The owner is not clued up about veganisim

Pros: Plant milk available

Cons: Expensive, Only one choice of vegan cake, No interest in actually showing mercy to animals

Kaffee and Kuchen perfection

Mercy is a new coffee shop on Birkenstraße and it’s definitely going to hold its own alongside the other local haunts. The owners have made the most of the space with tasteful furnishings and a couple of comfy sofas in the back part of the shop.
The coffee is fantastic and there are alternative milks to choose from. The cake selection is small but includes a vegan banana and chocolate bread that I’m planning to try on my next visit. So far I can say that the caramel brownie is to die for and the lemon and poppy seed cake is full of flavour. Please go and support this new cafe as it’s a really good one with friendly staff and charming ambience.

Pros: Elegant layout, Friendly staff, Vegan options
