A day out in the farmer's market

I went to the one in Myeongdong sometime back. It was held in the basement of the Catholic church in the area. Now, it is probably moved to the Community House Masil accoss from the church nearby YMCA. The vendors also include of some expats selling their homemade spaghetti sauce, hummus, etc. It was a good opportunity to get to know the local veg restaurants, independent food producers, and handcraftsmen selling their fares. I got to talk to some about what went into the making of their products. It was a lot of fun.

Something to bear in mind if you are attending one of these farmers market: it seemed many people brought along their own eating plates and utensils. Perhaps, they discourage creating unnecessary wastes. Luckily on the day I went, I chanced to meet a friend who brought extras, thus I was able to enjoy some foods there. I think bringing your own plates/utensils may not be a bad idea. I urge you to bring your containers (and shopping bags) too, if you think you might be purchasing some ready-made foods.

The other location is Hyehwa. There is at least one farmer's market monthly either in Myeondong and/or Hyehwa. You can preview some pictures on the organizer's instagram @marchefriends and check their website (in Korean only) for schedules and participants.
