Beef stock in veggie pho, and rude staff

Veggie Pho is in beef stock, staff are extremely rude, only two coincidentally vegan items on the menu.

Such a shame our first dinner in Paris we came across rude wait staff. We came here after flying into Paris as it was around the corner from our hotel. We entered with a smile and a bonjour and sat down to look at the menu. We asked if the Vegetable Pho was vegan, no it still comes in beef stock 🤷 Surprised we politely queried, my wife mentioned we’d seen their restaurant on Happy Cow and it mentioned vegan options. They do have another vegetable soup base dish (but not for the pho) and one other dish that is coincidentally vegan so we did order those.

Whilst waiting for the order we heard a staff member speaking in French to a colleague say Happy Cow, vegan, and they both laughed. My wife looked up and they quickly looked away 😠

We were hungry so stayed and ate our meals. They looked nice and I love Vietnamese, but these were just average. The noodle dish was plain with a sauce only on the lettuce portion. The soup dish was mostly cabbage, with a couple of carrot pieces and one piece of broccoli.

When we went to pay another staff member didn’t even look at us, he put the card reader on the bench and walked back into the kitchen before I had even tapped my card 😳 We had to call out to him to get him to come back as we wanted a receipt.

An awful experience, maybe no surprise there was no one else inside the restaurant eating.

With nothing marked on the menu, and only two items that are coincidentally/hopefully vegan it is also not helpful when Happy Cow users rate a place like this four stars. In a city like Paris with so many vegan and vegan friendly restaurants this does not help people search for and find places to dine.

Pros: You’re in Paris, there’s so many better options

Cons: Beef stock in a vegetable soup , Staff were very rude , Only two options (not helpful being on Happy Cow)

Tasty and helpful staff re: vegan options

They were helpful when I explained I’m vegan, the vegetable broth with rice was great

Tasty!

I had the veggie bobun which waa very tasty.
€15.90 for a meal & beer - amazing value (especially in Paris!)
