We arrived at 9:30 (they close at 10!). At first I thought no one was there, but Carl was very gracious and served our party of 3 even though we were the only patrons. We ate out back and enjoyed the music and lights.

As someone who works retail, staying 30 minutes late would kinda drive me up the wall, but he was a great sport about it. Thanks for the hospitality Carl. Give this man a raise. 🍔

Adorable vegan restaurant offering super tasty burgers! Not only they taste great, but they are also on the healthier side, which is always a good compromise.
Read morePiece of advice: from outside it can look a bit like a residential home, I would try to make it more obvious that this is a restaurant, put up a bigger sign maybe, something like that. Cause this place is really worth it ☺️

The island burger was great. The loaded fries had too much sauce, but we were asked at the end for feedback and I did mention that. I find that asking for feedback is a great idea, being open to any changes that customers suggest.

We were a little confused by the front of the restaurant. It's not very clearly labeled, as they share the location with a coffee shop. A little hidden away if you're not looking for it.
All in all, we'd go back or visit at Vegandale!

I’ve been to Lyces 3 times now and each time I forget to take a picture of my burger because I’ve already started eating it!
Read moreThe hempburgers are absolutely delicious! The owner & chef Karl spent 1.5 years perfecting his Hempburger recipe, and it really is super tasty.
The regular fries that come with the burger are air fried without oil. They’re thin, crispy and delish! You also have the option of sweet potato fries that I may need to try next time.
The plating itself is not fancy, but that doesn’t matter… the burger is what I’m there for!
I’ve also tried both Mocktails, and although both are lovely, ‘So Fresh N So clean’ is my current fav!
Although I generally try to stay gluten free, I have made an exception in this case. The bread has gluten and I believe the hempburger patty may as well. I will need to confirm that and update here accordingly.
The atmosphere is really casual with great music! If you’re looking to unwind after work, this is a lovely spot to do so. Great place to relax with a book if solo, or play cards with some friends while waiting for your burger!
I’d love to see this business succeed, it’s a much needed vegan spot in Ottawa’s small plant based restaurant scene! Support Lyces by coming to its Somerset location or ordering for pickup or delivery!
