Great but not as I remembered

Went here for buffet almost every week around 10 years ago when I was a student before it closed down. Crowd was really huge, recommend to book a table. Cost around $45 for weekend lunch, quite pricey. Buffet items now are labelled for vegan, around 60-70% of the items are vegan. Spread is larger but now includes a lot of low cost filler foods. Quality is still good for most items. The chicken rice has dropped in quality and quantity, portion given was too small and rice was dry and less flavourful. It feels like a single piece of sushi than chicken rice. Used to be the best vegan chicken rice in Singapore but no longer, maybe better outside of their buffet. Still recommended as vegan friendly buffets are really rare.

Buffet Fri to Sun

The return of Lotus vegetarian buffet was much anticipated- the buffet is back on Fri, Sat & Sunday with two 1.5hr sessions at lunch (11.30am or 1.30pm) & probably at dinner as well. Best to check their Facebook for sudden closure or private events before you book. Price for lunch was $38.80 plus plus ($32.80 plus plus for seniors 60yrs ).

IMO, it's quite a lot to pay for "generic" dishes. Food is generally tasty & not salty, though not as captivating (for me).

Vegetarian Buffet in Singapore!!

Just visited them yesterday after they have shift back to the OG location! WhatsApp them to reserve a table for my family for buffet timeslot at 7.30pm as the 5.30pm slot is fully booked. Reached early to make payment for the table, and waited outside the restaurant until 7.30pm for them to call us once the table is ready. They are fast and efficient on cleaning up and preparing the tables for the 7.30pm diners.

The buffet dishes is well prepared, and there are many different dishes for you to eat. Firstly there are the standard Chinese dishes, next they have a dimsum section, Japanese food section which contains mainly sushi and vegetarian salmon. They also have pizza as well. They have a new section which is the Yong Tau Fu section where you can pick your YTF ingredients and they will cook for you on the spot! You can choose curry or normal soup for the YTF. There is also a new fried carrot cake section as well where the chef will fried carrot cake on the spot as well. There is also a soup section with 3 soups, and 1 porridge, the pot is kept warm in some hot stone and hot water, not very sure what is it. There's a dessert section as well, that serve ice cream, cakes and pudding. They have eggless cakes as well!

Lastly, the OG chicken rice and laksa section is still there. These are my favorite since young and it is a core memory for me. Understand from the staff that every week they will change around 70% of the menu, so you will get to eat different dishes depending on your visit.

Overall it was a good experience with the new renovated place. Unfortunately I didn't took any photos, only took videos. Will update some photos when I go visit them the next time. Meanwhile, can check out my reels posted on my Instagram if you are interested!

Good but service was disappointing

The service was really slow, we saw our beverages on the bar, waiting that the waitress brought them to us, after about 10 minutes... Staff was not really welcoming. Food was good, happily. But service could be better.

Extensive menu

The place was a little hard to find at first but I got there in the end. Large selection to choose from, the staff understand veganism. I tried the shark fin soup and didn't know what to expect but it was really good. The Satay skewers were tasty and I really enjoyed the bean curd skin dim sum. I found it a bit strange that you have to pay to use the wet wipe that's on your table especially when no napkins are provided! 🤣

Amazing Chinese

Have visited Lotus a number of times and have been impressed with each visit. Delicious food all around but highly recommend the duck pancakes. So happy we stumbled upon this restaurant, it rivals the vegan Chinese food found in Hong Kong, which is no easy feat!

Delicious Chinese Cuisine

Delighted to find that their Stir-Fried Laksa is still as fantastic and flavorful as ever – we just can't get enough of it!😋 Before we could even dive into the Chicken Rice, our boys had polished off everything. They declared it too yummy to resist!😅

To cater to the kids' love for truffles, we also ordered the Truffle Fried Rice. Love how the truffle flavour is beautifully infused into the rice, truly satisfying. Can't go wrong with their buttered mushrooms, it is very crispy! We couldn't resist adding some of our favourite dim sums to the order. Veggie Scallop Yam Fritters is my personal favourite, yummy! And Flower Fruit Tea is our must-have to end the meal. 😃✨️

Here are what we ordered🌱
🍜 Stir-Fried Laksa
🍚 Chicken Rice
🍛 Truffle Fried Rice
🍄 Buttered Abalone Mushroom
🍠 Veggie Scallop Yam Fritters
🫘 Steamed Beancurd Rolls
🥬 Veggie Siew Mai Dumplings
🍄 Mushroom Crystal Dumplings
🫖 Flower Fruit Tea

Take away experience

I ordered twice via Grab and loved the dim sum and other smaller portion dishes. The Mope (?) Tofu, however, was disgusting. I don’t know if it’s supposed to taste this way or was very off. Either way, I forced myself half way through since I was hungry but couldn’t finish. But as I said, the rest was great!

Incredible vegan Singapore 'chicken' rice!

We tried the incredible vegan 'chicken' rice here! So tasty! Easy to reach from Novena station too!

The prices were really good, and this was some of the most amazing mock chicken that we've ever had!

Unique Dimsum, Delicious Mains

Unique fusion allium-free vegetarian dimsum! Would recommend the Truffle Mixed Mushroom Dumplings, Signature Taro Mee Sua Cake, and Lotus Paste Longevity Buns. They also serve mains and seasonal specials, including the current Christmas vegan mains which are surprisingly delicious! Do verify with the staff when ordering if you do not consume egg and/or dairy. Conveniently located near Novena MRT Station Exit B.

Delicious

Ordered food via Grab to my hotel, and the sweet and sour soya meat were soooo good. I also had the shrimp dumplings and veggie king oyster buns and they’re okay.

I super love the packaging too.😄

Grilled housemade mock fish in tomato broth was tasty.

Mala xiang guo taste spicy but no saltishness at all.

The housemade mock fish and yam ring was soft and fresh!!

Good food, awful service

I went in for some dim sum and tried the streamed bean curd skin rolls, carrot cake, and truffle mushroom dumplings, and some tea. The tea and carrot cake were very lukewarm. Everything tasted delicious but my experience was marred by the awful service. I was completely ignored, gave up trying to ask someone for a menu and I just went and took one from another table.

Atas 😅 Chinese Cuisine

I would think this place looks elegant with its Zen deco environment. The staff always set 2 timings for lunch and dinner. Each slot about 2 hours. So it’s best to make reservations to avoid rushing yourself to eat or no table for u.
Some of their staff are quite friendly, while some have the “don’t bother” attitude. So go with lesser expectation from their service providers.

Pros: Lots Chinese & Local dishes , Air-Con , Easy accessibility

Cons: Quite expensive car park , Rush dining time , So-so customer service

Grilled "Fish" in Sichuan Mala Broth

31/3/22

First attracted by the photo and now charmed by the taste!!!
Very "FISH" !!!
Goes so well with the Mala Broth
Spiciness is just right, watch out for the hemp pepper!!! It will numb your tongue and lips!!! 😫

Luckily the Ice Blended Soursop calm down the numbness 😅
