Arriving expectantly at the crack at my intended destination, I soon discovered that it was not up to the standard I had hoped, so a drastic re-evaluation was urgently required. Having surveyed the map of the local area, this venue called out to me as a surefire panacea to my plight, as having dined extremely well at their sister hotel in Abu Dhabi, I was certain that it would be no different. However, I was to be proved wrong on this front, as it wasn’t as good; it was far superior.
Read moreAs has now become abundantly clear, if you’re fortunate enough to find yourself on The Palm, the likelihood is that you’re going to be in a glorious setting. This, of course, was no different. Modern, sleek, and stylish, the whole place exuded a contemporary charm whilst still being comfortable and inviting. This sense of amenity was further enhanced by charming staff who were diligent and efficient throughout.
Not surprisingly, the food was equally glorious. It would have been a travesty if the available spread couldn’t match the surroundings, but from the first dish to last, it was all absolutely tremendous.
Given the sheer range of options, they were far too numerous to list the credentials of each individually, but there were those that do warrant a special mention. First and foremost, my favourite (and therefore most ardently consumed) victual was the impossibly plump and exceedingly large vegetable gyoza. Never have I seen such a sizeable variation of what is usually a rather petite offering, yet these distinguished dumplings were none the worse for their souped-up nature; in fact, they were all the better for it.
Of the other foodstuffs that were particularly noteworthy, one was slightly more exotic than the other, though that’s not to say they weren’t equally excellent. Delivering yet another hit from the oriental section, the fragrant, umami-rich garlic fried rice was a delight. Not to be outdone, the rather more pedestrian-sounding hash browns were a near-perfect example of their ilk – superbly crisp on the exterior and wonderfully fluffy on the interior.
With unwavering quality and extensive choices, this is a fabulous option for those seeking to gorge themselves in style. Despite strong competition, I would have to rank this highly in my extensive list of buffet destinations, and I know that I will be here again in the future.
