Good food, BAD service!

The food was great but I'm afraid I won't be going back because the service was truly appalling !
I had a scrumptious veggi 'tartiflette' (gratin with reblochon cheese) followed by a pretty good tarte tatin and my friend found her burger and crumble delicious too. BUT (and this is a big but!) after our desert the waiter asked if we wanted anything else - my friend asked if they do herbal teas and then came the stunning answer 'well, we do... but.... the problem is you haven't got much time left because there's a group coming and they need your table'. It's not as if we'd even taken much time. I've lived in Paris for more than 10 years and I find the 'grumpy waiter' culture kind of charming, but this really was over the limit. So we paid up promptly, having decided not to give a tip. When they didn't bring us our change (more than 20 % of the bill), this only confirmed our view that while the chef may be excellent, the waiting staff has not even a soupcon of professionalism!

not worth it

Utterly mediocre and vastly overpriced. As a non-veg living in Paris and hosting a veg friend for the weekend, I looked online, found the reviews of this restaurant at this site and booked a table. Well! Vague 'California-style' vegetarian food that either of us could have made at home although with perhaps less grease: she took the tofu steak and I had the quinoa burger (which wasn't carefully cooked as it was still cold in parts). We both got a boring side of grated carrot and cabbage, and she had some greasy fries as well. Her dish was 17 euros, and I had the menu at 22 euros!! The broccoli soup I had was the best thing on the table, and the fromage blanc was standard. Both of our meals should have been 5-10 euros cheaper for the style and care that was put into preparing and serving them.
We were told we only had 2 hours as they have a second service, and it was no problem. We wanted to leave as soon as we finished our cafeteria-type meals in this crowded, loud cafe. Bottom line? Very bad 'rapport qualite/prix' which the French rightly take seriously. I don't know if it's a pure racket, as the owners know they have something of a captive market? Probably high rents because of the central location play a role. Or a combination of the two. My advice: great Lebanese/Israeli food with lots of veg options in the many restaurants on the rue des Rosiers right around the corner. More interesting food, prepared better, for less money.
I feel sorry for foreign (and French!) vegetarians if this is the best food they can get in Paris. I'm happy that I'll never have to go back.

Pros: Broccoli soup was good

Cons: bad value, uninteresting food, mediocre service

Really disappointing...what happened?

Ok, I never write reviews but this needs to be done... so a couple of years ago me and my partner went to this restaurant were we had a fantastic tartiflette dish.....so we were so excited to go back here. Once we got here, the interior was changed and the menu is changed as well. No tartiflette anymore..but ok, we went for something else. We got the suggestion main (spinach pie with goat cheese) and a salad (with warm goats cheese and honey walnuts and olives). It was like 5 minutes later on our tables....surprisingly quick. The quality of the food was not so impressive. The salad was really boring and tasteless....just green leafs of salad with four pieces of tomato, a few pieces of cucumber, lots of grated carrot and some walnuts...o yeah, and 3 salty smushed kalamata olives....nothing was done with it, no dressing...just a dry salad with no taste. Just like a pre made bag of salad from the supermarket....O and of course 3 pieces of soaked bread with goats cheese..bad quality. I thought this was really disappointing because we payed 16 euro's for this salad. Its a scam, totally not worth it. Thats all I can say about this...As for the spinach pie...well this is something you can make at home. Nothing special..also for the price of 16 euro's....
We really wondered what happened in the kitchen because this didn't taste like someone had cooked this diner with some passion for us, like we were used too with the tartiflette dish. When my boyfriend went to the bathroom, he saw what happened. Its just a soup kitchen...with big containers under warm lights where the food is resting..and the 'cook' is just putting it on the plate...well that explains the short time between ordering and getting the food.
Really disappointing. Don't go here. I don't know what happened in the last couple of years, but its totally not worth your money. Don't go here. This is zero cows worth...not 2.

For the dutch speaking ppl here:
De salade is eigenlijk net zoals een zakje voorverpakte salade van een willekeurige supermarkt...blaadjes sla met wat geraspte wortel....echt belachelijk, meer woorden heb ik hier niet voor. Voor 16 euro.

Pros: none

Cons: bad quality, nearly impossible to contact, seriously overpriced, not worth it
